We don’t operate like most companies our size – we just can’t! Not many Performance roles offer this scope of business and customer involvement. You will have the opportunity to think outside of traditional performance testing models and incorporate user behavior to create test scenarios that will replicate how our customers use our services and prevent outages during our busiest times.

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director – IT Software Quality Assurance, you will be responsible for strategizing, designing and defining the structural testing frameworks for all applications that are in scope of performance testing.

You will serve as the single point of collaboration for the Enterprise System Architects (ESA), Development System Architects (DEV SAs), Application Delivery Managers (ADMs), and SQA Test Analysts. This will require a strong mix of imagination, technical, and business savvy. You will work with these various teams to build effective relationships in order to seamlessly merge technical complexities of the applications/systems with functional business processes.

Your role will be to ensure that the strategies, designs and frameworks defined are applied consistently across the various performance test teams. There will be interaction with various vendor/partner teams (where delivery leadership is provided by the vendor/partner) to ensure that strategies and frameworks are applied in the vendor areas as well. And, you will be defining, tracking and managing internal teams as well partner teams towards metrics related to test efficiencies and effectiveness.

Your scope may include up to 10 applications. This will require you to dig deep and ask questions. Because of the depth of our work, we can’t assume that we are getting all the information that we need. You’ll need to take marketing/business analytics data among other data sources to uncover patterns and then turn that into technical specs that can be tested.

Within the first 6 months, we want your applications to have some pretty robust test approaches that model user behavior accurately. This will require analysis to ensure that test approaches are comparable to the production data captured by our production operations teams. E.g. If our data shows that it takes 10 seconds for a user to log in, we need to ensure our test environment matches that (from environment scalability, configuration settings, etc.). If not, you will identify the gap and come up with a roadmap to resolve.

This is a rare opportunity within our business. You’ll have visibility to all business leads and because of the functional knowledge you will gain, you’ll have the potential to lead very strategic projects. You will have the ability to go beyond performance testing and move to performance engineering.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Work with the IT Production Operations teams to understand monitoring capabilities so that they can be fed back into the test execution tracking processes
* Define, implement and manage test result analysis strategies
* Establish processes and tools for test estimation, test design, and test case/scenario reusability
* Coach, mentor, and influence peers (performance test leads) and test analysts on robust performance test designs
* Establish formalized strategy sessions and processes to collaborate with ESA, DEV SA, ADMs and SQA Test Analysts
* Drive strategic improvements and projects
* Effectively manage vendors/partners in the areas of strategy, design and processes
* Ensure end to end traceability from requirements all the way to expected results and actual results
* Engage early in the project life cycle along with Test Analysts
* Assess business situations, develop and establish priorities in a fast paced IT environment

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree, a minimum of six (6) years of progressively challenging large-scale, multi-disciplinary testing experience required and two (2) plus years project planning and management
* Must have proven experience designing performance test frameworks
* Hands on experience working with production monitoring tools and analyzing monitoring results
* Must have effective communication skills to share testing knowledge and test strategy in a collaborative atmosphere
* Must be able to understand technical as well as functional business processes/objectives
* Must be able to manage risks, track and resolve issues
* Must have project planning experience
* Must have in depth knowledge of software and business test methodologies
* Must be experienced in multiple testing techniques with proven best practices
* Must have the ability to work in a matrix organization
* Must be able to quickly adapt to business changes
