Overview:

Lead the engineering organization for Automotive Americas, driving significant improvement in time to market, quality and product cost. Manage the development of innovative and customer-winning products.

Responsibilities & Qualifications:

STRATEGY

* Understand automotive market dynamic to be able to define a technology roadmap which supports the growth plan for the business in the region.
* Foster an environment of constant innovation, accelerating capability build up and execution in all product lines, special focus on lighting, infotainment and other adjacencies.
* Drive the integration and collaboration of the engineering teams in the Americas through an open, transparent, and empowering leadership style. Develop, communicate and implement engineering strategy in the region in alignment with Americas’ business vision.
* Ensure the correct resources are allocated and implement necessary alignment in the organization structure and capabilities. Recommend and manage investments in infrastructure, equipment, systems and asset in order to enhance the development cycle and optimize resources.
* Keep close contact with strategic customers, in order to understand technologies trends and requirements, as well as establish partnerships for advanced projects with leading customers in the region.

EXECUTION

* Deploy Lean PD philosophy around the organization, embedding tools in the engineering processes to improve efficiency and development cycle.
* Set the right goals and priorities to reach and exceed targets for the key engineering performance indicators, such as VAVE, productivity, A2P/MCI, Test Then design and others.
* Challenge and collaborate with operations, including manufacturing engineering to flawlessly launch new products and continue improving them throughout entire life cycle through sustaining engineering.
* Hold people accountable for accomplishing plans, eliminating “turn backs”, fostering teamwork and developing a self-sustaining team in the region, mainly in Mexico and Brazil.
* Be recognized as a master in collaboration across boundaries, working close with global automotive engineering staff and corporate technology in transferring best practices from other regions and implementing global initiatives such as VAVE and Platform.

* Promote a culture that reflects company’s values, encourages outstanding performance and promotes positive work environment, as well as strengthening regional team spirit. Reward productivity as part of an ongoing process to establish TE as an employer of choice.
* Supervise and balance work load across engineering groups; review and provide performance feedback; mentor, develop and motivate the teams; oversee the implementation of talent development programs; leverage HR global processes and initiatives (Career Connections, OLR, Development Plans, University Relations) to recruit, motivate, reward and address employee complaints in order to achieve performance and retain talent.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required, Master's Degree preferred
* 10 to 15 years of professional experience with focus on product development of systems or components
* Transformational leadership, with proved experience in leading cultural and organizational changes.
* Previous experience in leading engineering center at multiple locations and different countries.
* Strong background in lean and digital engineering practices
* Excellent communication and coaching skills at all levels
* Analytically minded and data-driven, applying a holistic overview of complex situations
* Fluent in English. Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred
* Working knowledge of the development of products manufactured through TE core processes; Molding, platting, stamping and assembly
* Working knowledge of organization and company transactional processes
* The position requires 25% of the time on travelling. Most of the trips will be inside the region, but global travels will also be requested.
