Candidate must be compliant with VA policies and procedures as well as those of the Philadelphia VA Medical Center and its? medical staff. The ideal candidate will have completed an approved training program in Emergency Medicine and is board eligible/board certified in Emergency Medicine with at recent experience at level I or II trauma center, burn center, ultrasound experience and in teaching residents and medical students the art of Emergency Medicine. The salary range for this position is $98,967 to $220,000. A generous benefits package is provided. An opportunity for additional ?performance pay? also exists.

The Philadelphia VA Medical Center is located near, and affiliated with, the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

These positions will be federal appointments. Consequently, applicants must be US citizens (non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens).

Work Schedule: Full-time- Weekday and Weekend Shifts to include Federal and Non- Federal Holidays.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:

Citizenship: Must be a United States Citizen (non-citizens may be appointed only if it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens).

English-language proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English.

Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: (1) Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Colleges for the year the degree was granted; (2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year which the degree was granted; (3) Schools (including foreign schools accepted by the licensing body of the State, Territory or Commonwealth or the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.

Licensure and Registration: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the state, territory or commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia.

All individuals:

(1) Must meet basic qualification standards for appointment. Clinical privileges must be recommended by the chief, staff/professional standards board as granted by the director of the Philadelphia VA Medical Center. Incumbent must provide complete credentials and privileging information in a timely expeditious way. Board certification or board eligibility in Emergency Medicine is required. Incumbent must have experience in Level I or Level II trauma or burn center, ultrasound experience, and experience teaching residents and medical students the art of Emergency Medicine.
