Job Description: Works closely with the Surgical Director of Trauma to meet the objectives of NMHC's trauma program and assists with coordination of the program including the development and implementation of the goals for the Trauma Service, trauma center verification, and overall development of the trauma program. The incumbent will ensure that quality care and appropriate treatment are delivered to the trauma patient, initiate changes as needed to improve quality of care and assist the Surgical Director of Trauma in providing management of patients assigned to the trauma service. Assists the Surgical Director of Trauma with monitoring the trauma performance improvement and patient safety process. Provide trauma care and participate in the trauma surgeon call schedule. Serves as a consultant to the medical and nursing staff on trauma-related issues, which may include medical management questions or concerns, and reviews cases as necessary. Participates in the review of hospital policies for trauma care for conformity with standards set forth by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and the American College of Surgeons, Committee on Trauma. Ensures regulatory compliance with accreditation and that hospital standards of trauma care comply with local, state and federal regulatory bodies. Participates in local, state and national organizations devoted to preventing injury and improving trauma care. Participates in the quality assurance process through Trauma Committees and Trauma Peer Review Conference.
