Job Description:



  • Engineer will provide services as the primary engineer assigned to customer accounts in support of their systems/applications, infrastructure and daily administration and management.
  • Engineer will work closely with Service Managers and internal teams to ensure that all aspects of the customer's ongoing system support and administration are successful.
  • Engineer will beresponsible for the creation and maintenance of application flow diagrams, custom monitors, RTS (Return to Service) documents, and Knowledge base articles as needed.
  • Engineer will be available for escalations 24x7 on an on-call basis.
  • He/She will conduct ongoing training for first line support personnel on their assigned customer's environment.
  • Identifies and corrects recurring technical issues within their assigned customer(s) environments.
  • Advises customer and acts as their SME (subject matter expert) for their environment for ongoing upgrades and infrastructure improvements.

Responsibilities:



  • 10+ years solid experience in UNIX or UNIX like operating systems administration, with last 5 yearsexperience on Red Hat Enterprise Linux on Client x86-64
  • 7+ years large environment experience working with enterprise server platforms; preferably HP Proliant, IBM xSeries, CISCO UCS, and Sun Microsystems.
  • 5+ yearsexperience in VMware/SAN products.
  • 5+ years workflow and system administration task automation experience using scripting language such as PERL and UNIX shells.
  • Hands on experience with data center orchestration and configuration management tools such as CHEF or Puppet is desired.
  • 5+ years of experience in support of and administration with UNIX based e-commerce applications: o Apache/Tomcat o Java Middleware (JBOSS/ATG/MQ) o Postfix/Sendmail
  • Strong working knowledge of Internet networking technologies and principals including TCP/IP and DNS/BIND.
  • Proven ability to absorb, master and leverage emerging technologies.
  • Strong operations management knowledge and system monitoring tools.
  • Understanding of overall business functions and the impact of technical decisions on business results.
  • Ability to understand business requirements for technical needs and utilize the business requirements information to prioritize work, develop solutions, and set urgency for others.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills, with logical problem solving from Layer 1 through Layer 7 of the OSI model.
  • Ability to work in a team environment that requires a great deal of independent thinking and work execution.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing customer-focused quality service.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communications skills.
  • Exceptional documentation skills are required.
  • Exceptional planning skills and ability to work within change control parameters.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to follow policies and procedures that dictate minimum standards for ticket handling, such as customer communication status updates, timelines for escalation, management communication status updates, etc.

Preferred Qualifications Include:



  • Virtualization experience using VMWare. Prefer VMWare VCP Certifications.
  • Certified as RHCE for version 5 or 6. Oracle DB experience as it relates to troubleshooting and support.
  • Technical Lead experience or senior level escalations experience.
  • Client, AMD based blade serverexperience, using any UNIX or LINUX version.
  • System management tools - HP Open view, HP Server Automation, HP Operations Orchestration and Remedy.
  • Practical or educational background in development principles.
  • Any developer experience using PERL, PHP, C++ with an emphasis on LAMP stack support and troubleshooting.
