The Senior Officer of Corporate and Foundation Relations for The College of Computer Information Science (CCIS) will serve as a major link between the university and the corporate and foundation community – establishing and retaining relationships for the university at senior levels. The Senior Officer achieves this by developing, implementing and coordinating outreach, communications, and solicitation strategies.

CCIS boasts one of the country’s top programming languages groups and has strong research programs in software development, algorithms and theory, formal methods, networks, systems, databases, information retrieval and data mining, human– computer interaction, artificial intelligence, and robotics. Faculty work individually and with researchers across Northeastern to address how computing can contribute to improving the quality and cost of health care, understanding the impact of social networks, and increasing the reliability and security of the systems and networks people turn to every day. The Senior Officer will be a consummate professional who is committed to advancing CCIS and Northeastern by:

-building partnerships between the university and targeted corporate and foundation funders
-working with faculty and research administration to draft, develop and submit proposals and letters of inquiry for funding
-developing strategies to advance the university’s mission by leveraging funding opportunities
-staffing academic leaders in their meetings with institutional donors
-stewarding existing grants while also providing faculty with funder-related guidance

The Senior Officer’s work will focus upon identifying potential funding for college-specific programs and research centers including information assurance, cyber security, health informatics, network science, and software reliability.

This position requires a balance between long term relationship management and the ongoing generation of proposals and solicitations that derive significant benefit to the university. The role serves as a senior single point of contact for relationship planning and coordination. Interactions with faculty and other key partners occur almost on a daily basis. The incumbent interfaces with senior level personnel at foundations and corporations via personal visits, telephone calls, e-mail or written correspondence. The original relationship is generally established through faculty research relationships, alumni contacts, or solicitation by the Senior Officer.

-Bachelor’s Degree is required; Master’s Degree or other professional degree preferred;
-At least ten (10) years of senior level corporate and foundation fundraising experience or equivalent individual leadership level fundraising experience required;
-Excellent written and oral communications skill;
-Ability to communicate and interface effectively with senior corporate and foundation representatives, as well as senior university stakeholders;
-Interest in computer science;
-Experience with an academic working environment;
-Outstanding collaborative leadership and team skills;
-Customer-oriented training and focus;
-High follow-up and responsiveness;
-Planning and analysis skills; and
-Ability to travel including nights and weekends.
