Harborview and the University of Washington Medical Centers Hospitality Departments (Nutrition and Food Service) have multiple employment opportunities for temporary and classified staff Dietary Unit Clerk positions.

Under general supervision, this individual will write or check patient menus; distribute, pick up, and tally menus; prepare food production worksheets; maintain record of patient diet prescriptions.
• Describe meal services to patients.
• Assure all patients have a diet order.
• Distribute and pick up menus. Assure menus are nutritionally balances.
• Communicate with nursing staff regarding diet order changes and assure all changes are made before meal times.
• Load own cart on tray line, check trays for accuracy .

• Deliver breakfast, lunch and dinner meal trays.
• Inform nursing of tray arrivals.
• Verify that the right tray with the correct diet goes to the patient.
• Alert RN of patients needing assistance with positioning.
• Deliver TB trays to USC.
• Alert RN of patients who are sleeping when trays are delivered.
• Follow-up and respond to any patient requests regarding meal services.
• Identify need for late trays and order as appropriate.
• Pick up all patient trays.
• Assist patient in completing menus.
• Sock pantry.
• Key code menus into computer to generate tray ticket.
• Additional duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS:
High school graduation or GED AND one year of experience as a Dietary Unit Aide in a health care facility or equivalent. One year of additional experience may substitute for the educational requirement. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Additional Requirements:
Previous customer service experience.
Understand and produce written and verbal instructions in English.
