As a human resource manager, you will supervise the division that takes care of all administrative functions related to employees, such as placing advertisements, recruiting, interviewing, selection, hiring and firing of staff. A human resources manager also strategizes with upper management about the most effective use of employees in order to maximize productivity and meet budget goals. Finally, you will provide administrative oversight to the department to ensure that it operates smoothly.

What education, qualifications and education would I need as a Human Resources Manager?

For a career in human resources, you will need experience in the field along with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field, such as education, finance, information technology or business management. While some company’s might require a master’s degree, others will strongly consider work-related experience that includes organization, direction and the management of others.

Skills that can help you land a Human Resources Manager position include:

  • Leadership – You will need to supervise a staff and employees and manage department operations
  • Decision making – You will also need strong decision-making abilities in order to determine the best course of action to follow
