Federally Qualified Healthcare Center - HRSA rating of 21 - Student Loan Repayment

Location: Hazleton, PA

Rural Health Corporation of NEPA has seven healthcare centers located in northeastern Pennsylvania nestled between New York City and Philadelphia. We provide quality healthcare to the underserved and underinsured in the rural areas of Luzerne and Wyoming counties. As an FQHC, physicians are eligible for federal and state loan repayments. Mission Statement: “The mission of RHC is to provide access to primary and preventive health care services to residents of all income levels within our service area.”

General Description: (Job Summary): Provide the full scope of primary care services including but not limited to taking patient histories, diagnosis, treatment, coordination of care, preventative care, health maintenance and patient record keeping. Educates residents of the service area on the importance of proper health, nutrition and hygiene and provide quality medical care to restore health and information to assist the patients in maintaining it

Education, Training and Experience (Qualifications): Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of PA and Board Certified or Board eligible required. Experience to perform the duties prescribed above also required. Current CPR and AED certified. Knowledge of diagnostic testing, medication administration, patient advocacy, pharmacology, care planning,; treatment, care and procedures performed in clinic, patient education, diagnosis/assessment, EMR, documentation, patient 5 exams, test interpretation, orders, patient care, physical exams, prescribing, psycho-social assessment, A&P, lifespan development, nutrition, infection control

Position Responsibilities:

Faithfully, industriously and to the best of their ability and experience, perform all required duties of a physician. Maintain a level of professional practice and standards of care commensurate with community standards
Demonstrates familiarity with goals and philosophy of RHC and strives toward those ends
Obtain health histories, perform physical examinations, diagnose and counsel patients and/or their families, review reports and studies timely, provide preventative services including vaccinations and educate families, review hospital and emergency room reports, perform office procedures as needed
Sign off on Physician Assistants’ charts and encounters; train PA students
Provide on call coverage and assist in ensuring coverage of the medical center (practice)
Comply with the professional standards of RHC and with all relevant ethical and professional standards of the laws and regulations of the Commonwealth of PA and the Code of Ethics of the Medical or Osteopathic profession; exercise independent judgement in performing professional services within these guidelines
Comply with all applicable provisions of law relating to licensing and regulations of physicians; pay for and maintain licenses, registrations and/or permits required by law. Notify RHC immediately, in writing, upon receipt of notice that
Any such license, registration or permit has been or may be denied, revoked, suspended or limited in any manner whatsoever
Any patient or other complaint
Any complaint, charge, proceeding, inquiry or investigation before any legally constituted body of the Commonwealth of PA or of any incident that might give rise to such complaint, charge, proceeding, inquiry or investigation.
Provide RHC with any and all information related in any manner to such notice and cooperate fully with any investigation relating to or arising from such notice.
Failure to be licensed or to maintain malpractice insurance under a policy used by RHC for dentists shall be grounds for immediate termination.
Maintain membership in good standing with admitting privileges at one or more hospitals designated by RHC. Notify RHC, in writing, immediately after receipt of notice from any hospital that privileges have been or may be denied, revoked, suspended or limited in any manner whatsoever or that any patient or other complaint or inquiry has been received by any such hospital. Provide RHC with any and all information related in any way to such notice and cooperate fully with any investigation relating to or arising from such notice.
Maintain membership in good standing with the appropriate professional society
Maintain continuing education as required by the applicable medical board
Furnish services to all RHC patients without regard to ability to pay or to obtain reimbursement from a third party on behalf of the patient as required by RHC and U.S. Public Health Services policies
Maintain complete and accurate electronic medical records
Monitor and supervise activities and assess the competencies of the physician assistants, R.N.’s, medical assistants and other staff
Monitor infection control and safety procedures in the medical office
Maintain professional and technical knowledge via workshops, webinars, professional publications, etc.
Perform other duties within capabilities as assigned by supervisor or executive staff
Adhere to all personnel policies in the conduct of personal and employment matters
