About River Edge Behavioral Health

Serving more than 10,000 Georgians, River Edge continues to be one of the state's leading resources for mental health, substance use disorder treatments and supports as well as individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The full continuum of River Edge Behavioral Health services provides state-of-the-art treatment and support services for more than 10,000 children, youth, families, and adults annually, who experience mental illness, addiction, co-occurring disorders or developmental disabilities.

River Edge is currently seeking a part time Psychiatrist for the Judiciary In-reach Program.

Location/ Schedule: 668 Oglethorpe St, Macon, GA 31201

Role Summary

Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Psychiatristwill be available to provide psychiatric assessments, diagnostic impression, medication management/ follow-up, and emergency crisis response. River Edge has introduced collaborative Integrated Medicine with primary physicians. May need to supervise Advanced Nurse Practitioners in accordance with protocols.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Conduct a comprehensive behavioral health assessment of the detainees.

· Provide psychiatric care, including admission evaluations, follow-ups, and urgent and emergent consultations to individuals with mental health needs.

· Supervise and collaborate with Advanced Nurses, Physician Assistants, and other health care providers.

· Provide detainee education, specifically around issues related to medications and treatment adherence, and aftercare services. Document all activities in the electronic medical record in a timely, concise, and clear manner.

· Prescribes appropriate medications in accordance with pharmaceutical guidelines and standards of practice.

· Monitor the effects of any medication and adjust treatment where necessary.

· Evaluates practice in relation to professional standards, statues, regulations, departmental policies, and standards of care.

· Provides ongoing clinical and administrative supervision, and performance-evaluations of assigned staff.

· Responds to phone inquiries of patients and pharmacies as directed.

· May be required to work PRN or on-call or as needed when there is a staff shortage or an emergency.

Qualifications

· Fully Covid-19 vaccinated.

· Must have a valid MD License granted by the Georgia composite state board of medical examiners AND certification in one of the following specialties: General Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, or a related discipline.

· Specialty in Psychiatric Medicine

· All applicants must pass a satisfactory background clearance and pre-employment drug test.

· Provide 2 Professional references (Former employers only, no family members)

· Must have knowledge and experience with the chronically mentally ill population.

· Must have strong clinical skills.

· Must have excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.

· Must have ability to multi-task and remain organized.
