Great job just wish they gave job placement and job security
I loved working there but afterwards I feel the program forgets about you. I wish they gave job security and job placement after your term is over. Great job

Listen well and success is almost guarenteed
I enjoyed the experience, though it was a bit challenging. I enjoyed the challenge though for personal growth. I felt like I contributed something worthwhile from working there.

Mostly great. It is what you make of it.
One of the most ineresting jobs I ever held. You realize through AmeriCorps there is a lot of need in our own communities wherever you go. Although the execution of ideas can be lacking at times, it is a great way to make a difference in your own country if you're looking for something to do in between jobs.

ProsHelping your community
ConsCo-workers are not nice people, they don't do it to help people they just do it for money and to make there selves look good

A great opportunity to serve our community!
This experience was an excellent opportunity to broaden my professional skill sets and become more invested in my community. The experience demonstrated the importance of volunteerism in America. Overall a unique growing experience.

AmeriPoor
Americorps was the worst decision in terms of financial security I’ve ever made. Making me pay for things out of pocket constantly, not issuing medical insurance for over 6 months, constant sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior from management and supervisors, falsifying my name on grants. Do NOT do it.

Great Expereince
Loved serving my community through AmeriCorps. For a government position, they do not pay enough, but my site was great. My supervisor allowed me to select my own hours, but all sites are different. Great way to step out into the community.

Americorps is a ten month "voluntary" program if you will
This program made me who I am today. I went to college and could not figure out what I wanted to do so i researched and looked at some possible options. I learned how to be organized, how to work with people, how to manage people, and so much knowledge in emergency management. I would recommend this to anyone in the age group of 18-25. I made so many lifelong friends from all over the country. It was the best feeling to wake up everyday knowing you are making a difference in peoples lives.

IPHA AmeriCorps
It was a great experience, but experiences may by different at each site. Not all sites are the same. I was located at a very small site, which enabled me to learn more about all aspects of public health.

Day at the job
When i worked for AmeriCorps i had my own little space where i worked mostly alone doing all of the computer work.
At 12 i would take an hour lunch and than after lunch i would go to the Boys and Girls club helping with games and activities for the children.
ProsLearning experience, Outdoors, Great computer programs
