this company is not a happy place to work. The hours were 14 hrs days.
This company has great benefits. Management was terrible, not enough help. Working 14 + hrs a day plus weekends. Calling into meeting frequently that was useless.
Prosnothing
Conseverything, no lunch r/t to much work, meetings.

Good at the start
Great company at the start. Multiple internal changes including replacing clinical pharmacy manager with a RN. This transition did not go well and many people left the company at that point.

Former Employee
Somewhat good work/life balance. Many supervisory changes. Continuously changing processes. Good benefits plan, training provided needed to succeed in position.

Hard place to work
At first, it seems like a great place to work. But once you get on the floor everything changes. The company is very uptight and hardcore. A very strict place to work.

I really like my job and my company
If you can get past dealing with certain types of people and focus on your work you can be successful. Job advancement is great with plenty of options to choose from.

This is not a place for ambitious people to work
Simple job, good pay, no real advancement opportunities in IT field with this company, Great job for entry level IT workers. Communication is lacking throughout the company at times.

I do not wish to comment
I wish to not comment on a previous employer unless asked out right. I was taught to only give positive feedback if you can not do that then not commenting is the best thing I can do.

Longevity & Company growth
Good: * The company is growing weekly. The profits & shareholders in the company have expanded greatly. * Work place culture is great very family oriented. * Work days are always packed with additional work and meetings plenty to do. * Hardest part is the amount of work & not enough employee's. * Most enjoyable part is learning somethign new daily. Bad: * More inbound work than the employee head count. * Variable management styles and newer managers with out the proper skill sets. * Job growth is a big challeng as well.
ProsGood place to work if you are FTE.
ConsNot so great for the amount of work per emplyee head count.

Questions And Answers about Centene

How are the working hours at Centene?
Asked Sep 2, 2016
Louisiana 8:00am - 5:00 pm, 1 hr lunch
Answered Sep 10, 2019
They prefer 7 to 4:30 in the tempe office, but in grievance and appeals many work 7 to 7, 8, 9 three nights a week and also work one or both days on weekends. 16 hours a week mandatory overtime and after all that, the immature, unprofessional, uneducated supervisors become envious of your pay.

How long does it take to get hired from start to finish at Centene? What are the steps along the way?
Asked Aug 7, 2016
About 4 weeks total from applying online to the offer. 1. Submit online application 2. Email to complete skills test which included math & behavioral type questions (30 - 40 min to complete) 3. Application under review by hiring manager status 4. After 2 weeks, interview request email 5. Interview completed week 3 (tag team style) 6. A few days later, offer email received contingent on passing background 7. Background check submitted & passed in 2 days (very thorough background check with criminal record check, credit check, education verification, etc) 8. Welcome aboard email with start date & first day info! This was a great process from start to finish. Interview was basic situational questions (STAR format - Situation, Task, Action, Result) My recommendation is to BE PREPARED! -Do your research on the company & the job you are applying for. ALL companies like when you do this -Arrive early. My interview lasted about 45 min -Have several situational examples from your previous jobs that directly apply to the position you applied for & be prepared to answer in STAR format -Have questions for the interviewers at the end (not related to salary, but smart questions that set you aside from other interviewees) -Smile a lot & don't be nervous (even if you are :-) -If extended an offer, be VERY exact about your background on the check. If things don't match up, your offer will likely be rescinded. This also means don't lie on your application because everything will be verified. GOOD LUCK! 🍀

If you were in charge, what would you do to make Centene a better place to work?
Asked Aug 30, 2017
Train my managers to actually be managers. And advise them that you are allowed to be friends with your supervisor but do not band together to fire a employee because they decided to tell a superior about your behavior. Train my mangers on how to talk people properly
