Overall Reviews at Co-op Group

Driver castlewood present
Dreadful place to work, all the management are interested in are kpi figures and if they sent out more cases than other depots.
There is a massive spying culture on your work, from looking at store cctv to try and catch you out, to driver style computer ratings, and orange jackets who sit staring at computers all day harrasing drivers etc to meet their requirments to become best team leaders.
Half these clowns cannot drive a HGV and some havnt even got a driving licence but feel qualified enough to tell you how to drive and do your job.
Its about time the CEO came and had a driver meeting at all depots, and listened to what drivers have to put up with from the depot yes people management.
Overweight cages bad attitudes from team leaders and management, a week out on the road doing what drivers have to put up with day in day out may help get a few points across.
If you want your body to become riddled with arthritis, come and work at the Co-op because in 5 years your joints will be shot, with pushing and pulling overweight cages at poor delivery points.
The co-op only think about kpi figures and profits, and giving out disciplinarys not about the staff who work on the shop floor level.
Without these people at store and and driver level the Co-op would be nothing, the way they are treating staff they will soon be nothing as every day gets worse.
ConsPoor team leaders and management unrealistic requirements ideas

Not everyones cup of tea
I have worked in coop for 6 years. I started as a part time ctm then progressed to team leader and 3 years later team manager.
Coop is a decent place to work but it can depend on the store as busy stores (30k+ ) are usually running behind as the buisness doesn't generate enough hours and do expect a good work ethic at a fast pace
Not so busy stores (30k and under) focus on more compliance, making the store astetically pleasing, putting more time in promotional displays to gain more customers.
Good work/life balance (store dependant)
Pension & discount scheme
Membership scheme( donating money to local communities)
New technology and changing environment
Team leader pay (almost as much responsibility as a store manager)
Community involvment ( stores don't usually have the time and managers end up doing this outside of work to please Area managers).
Lack of hours - Most stores feel this way( store dependant) Huge workloads and not enough staff to compensate. Store managers usually do 60+ hours per week to keep store above water.
Team manager pay - no overtime pay and minimum salary is only £600 more than team leader.
ProsDiscount, community scheme
ConsPay, big workloads, not enough hours given

Good Salary. But stressful job
Good pay but you earn it.
Disciplinery procedures for everything that happens. It's like working with an axe over your head. You always get the blame.even when root cause is their fault.
Difficult working conditions, old equipment including aging fleet, old shops, sloped, narrow delivery areas, doctored old and unsafe goods cages (4 siders with doors removed, replaced with a strap or cling film.) Plastic gets wrapped around wheels making rolling and steering difficult. (So much for reducing plastic waste) . Main bar a nightmare on first deliveries as no where to stow it especially if it still has a tether attached.
Good money too much stress.
ProsGood rates of pay. In house CPC training.
ConsSplit days off. Difficult drops, even new shops are designed without any thought of access. Make sure you do things by the book, otherwise your out, the book is very thick.

Please don’t work for the co op
Although the pay was okay, thus was the worst job I have ever had, it wasn’t to fi with retail because I work for another supermarket now and I love it, the staff and managers in co op are horrible and miserable. My mental health was at the worst it’s ever been when I was working at the co op, I felt like I was constantly being looked down on, all the staff were friends/ family which made me feel like I shouldn’t be there. I believe I was given unfair dismissal but I will not go into that. I am now working for another retailer and I love my job (doing the same things I did in co op) I also now refuse to shop in the co op because I know how miserable it is and how sraff abs sometimes customers are treated.

Job not bad!! but company run by clowns
Good pay and good benefits. Job can be very physical some days. drivers think routes are made using a dart board coz there's no sense to them! Rotas ain't very good but bearable if you get on the right one! Drivers are all treated like their not to be trusted and if something goes wrong(coz it will do) you will end up trying to explain to your superiors who ain't got a clue about the job, why it happened! Most stores are a pain to deliver to coz store staff wont give you a hand and the delivery points are in a poor state! This definitely is not a proper driving job, so if your looking for the easy life, dont bother!!
ProsGood benefits and pay
ConsPhysical and poor management

terrible place to work
i worked in the Derry branch.terrible place to work for a catholic, the manager was a bully.i was treated badly i never worked the contracted 10hrs,i was not getting the experance that was needed
to do the job, i couldnt trust any of the other people i worked with as they reported everything back to the manager, even the smallest thing went straight back to the manager. after 6 months i had it.
this is a job for a protestant.

Not suited to my skill set and found their computer systems archaic and time-consuming to navigate. No idea what it is like in 2018, but that was my experience. The restaurant and staff facilities (gym etc) were very good. They are quite community orientated and claim to have a good history of an ethical nature.
ProsGood team members
ConsPoorly organised and did not offer commission on sales.

Good work atmosphere.
Very nice friendly people to work with, good staff discount. Some very early starts, easy to swap shifts if necessary. Good social life among the younger staff. Good opportunity for staff to progress and seek promotion within the store.
