Overall Reviews at Department of Veterans Affairs

Northamption Veterans Affaires
This is the worst VA to work at and worst in the VISN 1. Management is pure evil, they just threw my friend under the bus to cover themselves and there jobs! 15 years of outstanding performance and now HR is firing me! Run run from this location The HR manager doesn’t know his foot from his arm and they are self-serving and only look out for themselves

Nice place to work
Typical day started at 8 am seeing veterans until 4:00. Documentation and alerts after that or between patients. Staff was likable. Would in teams of NP, LPN, RN and administration (pods)/

Great Place To Work
Worked at VA for 21 years. Had various jobs that I was advanced to. If your looking for a place that has study income and great place to work.
If you are a Veterans this also has a plus side for being treated medically.

Rewarding work, benefits are appealing, system is cumbersome.
Working for veterans is rewarding. The job benefits such as pay, time off, and retirement are appealing. Navigating the federal system is cumbersome and frustrating much of the time.

What I learned
Working at the V A is a great experience to have endured. I wish I would had stay. I really missed the opportunities and their team efforts to improve the your job position, improving your education and being supported by a great Union for all employees.

Work with a Noble Mission
A mission oriented environment serving veterans in providing healthcare, benefits, and memorial affairs with a fourth mission to surge capabilities into civilian health care systems in the event those systems encounter capacity issues.

I was cheated out of benefits during my retirement
Upon retirement Human Resources and Fiscal department failed to communicate regarding my fiscal benefits were lacking in certain areas that effected 13 years of my hard earn work history as a result I lost credit for those years and my military time that supposedly I paid back into the Federal system and they paid me back that money. Why did they returned those funds?? At no time Did the the Federal system commu ucatex to me regarding this matter Retired56/2018
funds back to me and failed to communicateI
ProsOne can develop oneself on own accordance
ConsStaff members don't communicate with everyone equally there is discrimination!

They give Recognition.
Benefits were good, but pay was not. Many qualified people that should have gotten assignments, did not. They were given to others. Due to my demeanor and the way I worked with any one, I was highly respected and looked up to.

I enjoy working for the VA
I love my job with the VA, I feel a sense of accomplishment as I work with Veterans and they receive the correct benefits. My fellow employees are great, the management needs help but my coworkers are awesome.
