If you like Sales and being driven by numbers then this is your company!
Graded highly on productivity and numbers. If you are driven by sales then this is your place. If you are driven by culture than it might not be the best fit. Depends on your focus.

Strong company
Strong company with lots of opportunities. Flexibility in the schedule and plenty of benefits that employees can take a vantage of, including paid time off, health insurance and more. Also, the company offers a great training and education system for new personal trainer and trainers to grow and learn over time. Essentially, and inexperienced personal trainer can become a veteran trainer and earn a very great living working at equinox.

Great place to get educated in personal training
They are one of the best health clubs to work in. They offered continuing education to help the trainers educate clients and perform their best. Co-workers assisted in helping each other achieve personal goals as well as business goals.

Challenging and Fast-paced
Great people and fun place to work with continuous challenges and opportunities. Roles are blurred at times and management tends to be reactive as opposed to prescriptive.

The company requires more than they offer
Its all about the people, luck of the draw when it comes to teams. I was disappointed with upper management and how little they care about improving the environment. They have the dream but not the drive. Employee are often under valued and they have a high turn over.

"It's Not Life, It's Fitness"
I do not believe in their fitness philosophy. I also do not believe that it doesn't matter if you are good or bad trainer just make sure you SELL, SELL and SELL.
ProsFree and clean Gym
ConsThey lost the spirit of what it means to help people with their fitness goals

Fun workplace, great management
Overall it was a great experience with great co-workers. I worked good hours but I am just looking for a higher salary, better benefits and more room for advancement. Overall it was a great experience. I learned excellent organization and communication skills. I enhanced my ability in sales and customer service. I learned how to be a leader but also a strong team player.
ProsGreat management and great co-workers. good hours
ConsLow salary, no room for advancement

Overall a good place to work if your a fitness professional
I enjoyed working at Equinox as it is a great place to explore your true potential as a fitness professional. The clubs are beautiful and the clientele is outstanding.
ProsBeautiful clubs
ConsThe fitness industry is tough, but that’s true of any club or gym.

Fun company to work for, but management only looks out for themselves
very image driven culture. lots of fun corporate activities but to advance you have to do a lot of "tell them what they want to hear"...merit and ability isn't valued as much.

If you were in charge, what would you do to make Equinox a better place to work?
Asked Nov 14, 2019
Pay the employees more and make department more equal. There’s too much of a divide between departments.

I would add paid vacation

What were the hours like working at the Equinox Shop?
Asked Apr 19, 2019
There are three different shifts Mon-Fri 5:30-2pm shift and 2- 11pm shift Sat-Sunday 8-2pm and 2-8pm. If you are now coming in you will start off on the weekends and doing whatever open shift there is. Do not come expecting a morning shift you will not get it unless someone that is working that shift leaves or got fired.
Answered Apr 17, 2020
They hire people to work a minimum of 10 hours at the Southport CT location (You learn this useful information at the interview and not before). The shifts are 8 a.m.-2 p.m. or 1 p.m.-7 p.m. The store is supposed to be open M-F 8 a.m.-7 p.m., SA 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and SU 8 a.m.-2 p.m. You are expected to work on your feet the entire shift. Equinox shop sales associates make $12.00 phr at the Southport CT location and 2% commission on whatever they sell from the shop.
