Overall Reviews at Everis

Software Engineer | Birmingham, AL | Oct 21, 2019
The best place to begin your software developer career.
I was hired right out of coding bootcamp. They really took time to let me get familiar with their tech stack and helped me walk into the shallow end when they felt I was ready. If I ever had a question, I was surrounded by senior developers who would not hesitate to help me figure out what was going on. The work place was very relaxed, the hours were casual, and our team leads were outstanding being both knowledgeable and approachable.
ProsGreat place to start, treated people like grown ups.
ConsSometimes I would get in trouble for not doing things that no one ever told me to do. Paperwork wise, not development.

Job Satisfaction Depends on Your Location and Client
A lot of one's job satisfaction is really dictated by the client you are doing work for. There can be a conflict between the expectations that Everis has for it's employees and what the client's expectations are, especially when it comes to performance reviews. It really really helps to be able to speak Spanish along with English as well.
ProsGood work life balance
ConsAt the mercy of the client you are assigned to work with

Unique head office work environment.
It's a Spanish-owned company so it has a bit of a Euro vibe. I worked at the head office in the Ballston area of Arlington, VA. Everyone works at bench seating (except executives, of course) meaning that there is virtually no privacy so it can be a bit of an adjustment. Generally, the people are great and nobody ever eats lunch alone...unless you want to. Benefits are hard to beat anywhere.
ProsFree healthcare. Unlimited PTO?
ConsNone worth stating.

Good atmosphere, with nice amenities. Good coworkers make it better.
It was a nice place to work in my short time there. I was placed on a team doing something I had never done before. They made sure to encourage me and push me no matter what happened. I do wish that management had communicated more with us, but it was still a great experience.

Not good employee retention approach.
The evaluation process is fixed and determine by company sucess and not in the individual sucess. On top of that they keep reducing exiating benefits.
ConsNo growth

Great company
They know how to take care of their employees. I began there as a junior developer, and they showed me the ropes, it was unfortunate timing in my personal life that led me having to quit.

Having more of the company information in English would be nice. Consolidating the different websites and apps used for time logging, benefits, etc would save a lot of time.

What is the interview process like at Everis?
Asked Oct 21, 2019
Had a casual conversation with 2 developers about my experiences in tech, what we covered in bootcamp, etc. I would say that half of the interview felt more like they were trying to gauge whether I would be a good fit for their company culture, and would I be able to learn and grow.
