Retail Sales Associate Reviews at Guess
Was told i was promoted, but the DM didn't know what i was talking about. New store manager didn't like me so she retaliated me through scheduling and would give me 5 hours a week. she told me to put on a flannel over my tank top because my tattoo was too big but when confronted, lied to the manager below store manager position and said my shirt was just not fancy enough. was going to be transferred to the jewelry store of guess with my first store manager who was absolutely wonderful and wanted to promote me and actually supported me and was great, but the current bad intention store manager at the current store i was at decided to let me transfer in my benefit by writing me up from an showing up late incident that happened a couple weeks prior. pay sucks. its boring, noone wants to bug every single customer that walks in the door, and ask them every two minutes if they need help. The way i was treated about even talked about behind my back was the most unprofessional company i had ever worked for. and very self esteem crushing. She also had tried talking me into resignation.
Consgirls are petty
Nice people. Poor management.
90% of the associates you work with are extremely nice. Most of the managers are nice as well. However the company itself is run like a high school and the management is mostly made up of chickens with their heads cut off. There is no real level of training and they wait for you to make a costly mistake before deciding to train you in whatever aspect you made the mistake in. I have been trying for a management position and keep getting the run-around. They also don't even train newly promoted managers (former associates) they just expect them to learn along the way on their own and make no mistakes while doing it. HOWEVER if you only wish to be an associate the pay isn't too bad and the hours are ok. Truly depends on how much work you put in while you're there.
ProsFun environment. Good people to work with.
ConsNo room for growth. No training.
about my work summary little preview
A typical day at work organizing and preparing whats needed.
Keep an eye on things to be done before the work starts.
For Co-Workers iam team oriented, helping eachother is a big plus in me.Being friendly, honest with them to go through work easy and neatly. The most enjoyable part from me is meeting new people such as costumers or co-workers knowing we are all there for each step needed.Making costumers feel good and knowing the service was great enough to come back.helping them decide on a Menu items explain what is good for the day...or for costumer service _ helping them decide for any type of clothing for me to know what they need i ask where are they going what are they looking for exactly commenting on their taste.......
Productive and fun workplace
A typical day at Guess was greeting customers, talking with them to see what they are looking for and offering to hold their items in the fitting room or at the front of the store when they were ready to make a purchase.
I learned to be quick and approach customers.
Their management was great and under control, the communication was was great and it helped that we had walkie talkies.
It was challenging when two people are asking you to do two things at once but I got the hang of it.
Overall I enjoyed working there, the atmosphere was great.
Prosfriendly staff, half off merchandise and always busy.
Conshours were cut by a lot, new manager, parking during holidays was crazy.
Guess Outlets Review
Hours were short, management lied often and pay was minimal. They asked a lot of the employees and never gave anyone a raise. or such an upscale store they really under-appreciate their employees. They tried firing me by lying. I came in to work one afternoon and found I was no longer in the computer system. They had told me there was a mistake with corporate and that even though I was no longer in their system I could still work that day. I don't think so. I quit right there. Later I found that management had done the same to 8 other employees. That manager was no longer there after a few months.
Conspay, compensation, management
This job was pretty awesome. As an employee at Guess Inc. in the Lighthouse Place Outlet Mall it gave the benefit of receiving a discount not only at their store but at every other store out there too. The basic duties of working there consisted of everything. The employee would be the cashier, stock person, cleaner, sales associate, help customers find the right clothes, and keep the store clean. The hardest part of this job was trying to remember all the discounts going on.
Consdid not receive enough hours of work
Being a retail associate, my main duties were great customer service and exceeding sales goals. I opened/closed with the manger on duty, also handled the register, made customer relationships and answered any questions I came upon. I did inventory and replenished the merchandise on the floor. Made sure the store was clean and presentable to achieve an excellent customer experience. Also was one of the top associates in sales and was a candidate to be a team manager.
In my two and half years as a guest employee . I was responsible for generating over a million dollars in non commission sales. I was recognized by the company for my ability to execute everything within the art of selling. I was considered a leader from my fellow employees for having the highest SPH ever recorded. I used my ability to speak in Spanish to excel and communicate, by providing excellent customer service visually and physically.
Manager too pressuring
I loved my coworkers here and my old management team. Until a new manager came and everything was bad. We were treated like slaves scrubbing the floor on our knees... cleaning the toilets and sink every Sunday.. The manager at Southstreet seaport was too pressuring and extremely racist ! I was totally uncomfortable working there and glad I left! Besides that the pay was good and that's about it.
ProsGood pay and discounts
Productive and sales driven
Working for Guess was a pretty simple job. You come in dressed your best, sell your best, and go home.I really enjoyed the time there and the benefits such as 40-50 percent off for employees and bonuses at the end of the pay period. The management wasn't my favorite. They cared little for the employees. If you like to be fashion forward and interact with visitors this is your job.

A casual and fun environment of working place to work with
I was working there for up to 3 months as I was a part-time while waiting to pursue with my Degree studies. During my time in Guess, SACC Shah Alam, I have met with fun and engaging people from different backgrounds of life. I did also learn few things such as keeping stocks of all the jewelries into place and counting the stocks few hours before the store is closed. It was a great experience for me as I have always enjoy keeping things in place and in order.
ProsFlexible lunch hour
ConsWorking on weekends as the store is located inside a mall
Typical day at work would be greeting clients, setting up displays, serving clients, providing style options and a variety of choices based on clients needs and styles. I excelled in my sales and communication skills, as well as the ability to be personable and likable. This lead me to be the top seller of my store. The hardest part of the job was standing on your feet for long hours. The most enjoyable part of the job was styling people, making friends with staff and clients and making sales goals.
ConsShift work and standing for long hours.
