great job for new artists and sales people that love makeup
Mac cosmetics requires you to be comfortable talking to new people and building business relationship. must be comfortable applying makeup to all skin tones and textures. Product knowledge level and self-confidence will directly impact your sales volumes. using downtown between foot track to recruit customers will benefit you greatly.
Prosconstant growth
Consnot very much variety in looks for launches, atmosphere can get boring and excessively competitive

Management
Management was more my issue, I loved the environment. Great staff, but managers were too young, inexperienced, catty and unprofessional. Otherwise it was a fun, easy going environment.

Excellent working enviornment
Would have loved to stay and worked for this company but, it only had so many free lance hours per year, if any. I would still be working for the company but, I somehow got moved off of their list.
ProsExceptional Team Building Skills Learned
ConsDidn't equipt free lancers for jobs

If they don't like you they kick you out
if they don't like you they don't let you move up in the company. they have there favorites an its very known. This company is going down and its showing. Also if you don't make your goals they won't fire you so they don't have to pay unemployment. they bully you out.

Stressful
The company is very corporate, and unorganized. A lot of things are decided last minute. The company as a whole isnt doing as well as usual, and i feel they are frantically trying to fix it, but its making it worse.
Pros60% off discounts
ConsVery unlikely to get 30hours or more a week, 0 job security

not fun
everyone made me feel ashamed. My manager did illegal things to push me out of my position. The educators and trainers that would often come to the store would tell me my hair was ugly and I needed to change my appearance to fit in with the 'long island norm' and get clients.

Exciting and Challenging work environment
The MRSO position at MAC is challenging. You are given the opportunity to lead your own business, and guide the store leaders to drive their own businesses. It is a collaborative environment and the people are creative and intelligent.
ProsAmazing employee discount
ConsStaffing in some stores is minimal

Questions And Answers about MAC Cosmetics

What questions did they ask during your interview at MAC Cosmetics?
Asked Jul 27, 2016
Why am I a good fit for this job? Where do you see yourself in 10 years with this company? Would you like to be with this company long term?
Answered Jan 9, 2019
It's going to differ depending on who interviews you. Do company homework of course, but a good interviewer will ask you more about your soft skills, which you should go in prepared to highlight. Soft skills hold more weight, because quantifiable knowledge (hard skills) such as product ingredients, and brand history can be taught. If you don't know, or remember it during the interview, make them feel confident in your ability to come prepared with, or be taught, that type of information... Simply by falling back on your soft skills.
