Major issues with this specific branch
This local Distribution Center branch has major issues spanning multiple areas such as management, staffing, consistency, and downright favoritism. Enjoy working well over 40 hours a week at times, while working nights, therefore sacrificing any semblance of home life. Management are only worried about themselves and will not actually care about solving issues related to the environment. Will play favorites with certain employees whom have their ear and will act on that relationship. These bad eggs spoil the environment and culture of the workplace and will effectively make working with them miserable and akin to walking on eggshells. Too focused on quantity of work as far as numbers of lines pumped out per month and will feign as if they care about quality, but quality only matters to a point. Will expect you to even sacrifice your quantity with arbitrary rules they put in place, without effectively testing and rolling out proper time allotment for that task. Therefore you may find yourself receiving less incentive money for more work because of these practices. When management is challenged on these issues, you will receive the general "We are working on it" response which could take months or never to actually achieve even a middle ground resolution. These core issues make hiring and staffing an issue with a very high to absurd turnover rate. Which creates more pressure on the existing employees to leave. However many cannot as they have invested so much of their

Great job if you like overtime and having no life outside of work
This would be a great job for someone who is single, a workaholic or money oriented. The pay is good but you give up a lot for it. On 3rd shift you start in the evenings and work through the night. Forget 8 hour days. Very rare. Most of the time you're there for 9-12. Sundays are a nightmare. Always 11-12 hours, mondays are always 10+ you're shot by Tuesday. Tons of walking and your "standard" is the name of the game. Speed matters most. Everything is tracked and management won't come out and tell you to run your butt off all night but it's what they want. Along with the long hours you have to work all major holidays except thanksgiving. Good luck getting them off. Not happening unless you have lots of seniority. Always feels like you're constantly there because of the shift. After a long night you either come home and sleep the day away only to get up and go back a few hours later. You literally have no life all week. Weekends consist of a single full day away from the place. Never know when you're getting off work because it's work until everything is done. Could be 5am could be 7:30 you never know for sure. Management isn't bad but you get a sense that they truly don't know how demanding or physically punishing the job is. You feel more like a cog in the production process than a valued employee. Co workers are hot and cold. Some nice most not so friendly. Everyone is concerned with their numbers and if you're not moving fast enough some of them can get pre
ProsPay is decent
ConsLong hours, never know when you're getting off work, way too much overtime

Mckesson of West Seneca
Worked at Mckesson for 3 years now. Best part of the job is the pay. Starting pay on nights of about 15.75/hr, to walk an average of 15-20miles a night. Literally you walk about 15-20miles a night. Depends if the company is under staffed you could be looking at 45-50hr work weeks. Which is great if you're young with no kids. If not this job can and will take a troll on you physically. If you're lazy this is the job for you. If you're a hard worker and likable you can move up within the company, but if you're just a hard worker prepare to be worked to cover other people slack on a nightly basis. Overall the company has great benefits, semi decent management, good pay, co-workers are much better now then before. Umm I think that's it.
ProsBenefits, health care cost can all but a bit be covered by the company after 9months or so
ConsWalking, repetitive, long nights

NOT a career
The work is extremely redundant and brainless. The pay is really good considering the work is nothing actually difficult, but it's nothing to support a family/higher tastes with. Second shift does not leave until the work is done, so you could be there til 9:30pm or 1:30am. IT management is EXTREMELY incompetent, so if things break, expect a lot of mandatory overtime. Lots of incompetent employees and temps that stay much longer than they should. Direct supervisors have a sense of compassion, but overall, you are just a number. Higher ups and pharmacists are treated like royalty while material handlers are peasants. Work life balance is non existent. Okay for a part time job to get you through college, not for a full time career.
ProsPay is okay, weekly free pizza, Mpower points.
ConsLong hours, brainless work, employees are horrible

Fast-paced, long hours, decent pay
Overall not a bad place to work. Everyone starts on night-shift if you want full time work and it takes many years to get a day shift spot as it goes by seniority. Pretty good pay for a job that you can master in about a week. Work life balance isn't great with the long nights 5 nights a week. Management is pretty good and company provides food at least once a month to employees.
ProsGood pay and benefits, easy to learn job functions
ConsLong hours, night-shift, mandatory overtime

terrible place to work
Overworked, no leadership, training is left up to your coworkers. Worker suggestions and ideas never taken into consideration. You are expected to run from the time you walk in the door till you leave 12-15 hrs later. There is no work homelife balance
Consyou are litterally giving up your life

Mckesson
Mckesson was/is a great place to work. If you're on 1st shift, 3rd shift sucks! They offer great benefits and all kinds of different discounts. Mckesson also has been donwn sizing (look to the mergers). So overall if you can get in and only have a high school dipolma this is the job for you.

What would you suggest McKesson management do to prevent others from leaving?
Asked Mar 21, 2017
1)McKesson needs to have Much better medical coverage. 1 plan is not ok.2) work load expectations are too high for each employee 3) union would not allow what's currently going on so improve benefits, increase better raises and decrease work load all are needed. Currently medical 1 plan is awful , a raise of 1 or 2 % is wrong should be much higher and reduce the work load taking over 500 calls a month is too much for any one person.
