Working at Molly Maid is a perfect place to start if you want to open your own housecleaning business or if you need training on the ins and outs of how the profession works.
This company will provide you with five shirts at no charge, although you will have to provide your own navy blue scrubs. The work is consistent most of the time and they provide their own company car as well as chemicals, gas, and customer acquisition.
There are two positions you’ll be eligible for: partner and route manager. Route manager obviously gets paid more for their driving and for “leading” the team. There are attendance bonuses that stack pretty well and you’re given a nice cushion of sick days. The ladies in the office will try and accommodate your needs as best as they can most days.
However. There are times when you will be placed with a new person who is given the Route Manager title and they have no idea what they’re doing. So essentially you will be watching them, while making your regular 18% commission mind you, guiding them, fixing their mistakes so that you don’t get a complaint (and come back to reclean the house for free), while they’re paid more than you.
A lot of the homes are NOT screened beforehand and young ladies are sent to homes that have had no inspection. You will NOT be compensated for your drive time. When I started at Molly Maid it was though but in time it got easier. I've worked there for almost 5 years and I have grown into a stronger, reliable, and respected employee. My typical work day now as a team leader starts at 8. I call our customers with arrival time and sure our houses are in order, if anyone cancelled then I would discuss it with my boss if it effected our order. Sometimes he will give as another coustmer to fill in that spot or after we are done he would send us out to help other teams and same goes for is getting help if needed. Since I'm the team leader I drive the company car throughout the day. Each house is different and some have really high expectations with I fine with me cause I like challenges. When I first started at Molly Maid I was a floater that's someone who goes and helps teams when they have a big day or covers for a couple worker if they have time off. A year later I was promoted to assistant. Which means I'm on a team now. When I was giving the opportunity for this my partner and I had to start our team from scratch. We worked hard and long hours but I was proud to have this job. I learned so much more. Like how to work faster but still clean to coustmers expectation. I learned how to clean better get more detailed without spending a long time on say scrubbing a shower that has grout. A typical day promptly begins at 7;45 a.m. From there 21 teams of 2 sign in, grab coffee, and converse about todays schedule or yesterdays disaster. The mood is light, usually with the ladies telling jokes. There is an unspoken bond amongst us women. We're in this together, making the best out of our daily labor. Joints achy or swollen, body sore from the previous days work and yet we manage to smile. We're a TEAM and know that our work not only reflects upon us personally, but as an entire corporation, with a reputation to uphold. On average each team cleans between 4-5 houses. We change linen, make beds, dust from the cobwebs in the ceiling to the baseboards on the floor. We vacuum, mop, all the while with the most courteous of manners. Typically a house takes anywhere between 1-2 hours, but then on occasion we get the ones who take more. The hardest part of the day IS our day. We work hard and aim to please. Imagine cleaning your own home (without music). Not fun.But I must say that what makes the job enjoyable is your teammate/partner. Mine personally is Amazing! She's kind, thoughtful, takes pride in her work, and is extremely personable. It's better when you're not alone and have someone to talk to. This is one of the most HORRENDOUS places to work for. I understand this is a smaller company but they make MORE than enough money to pay more than 21% commission to their employees ( 27% if you’re a leader ) this is a commission based job please ignore the $15-$20 an hour posting, MISLEADING. NO BENEFITS! NO PTO, SICK TIME, HOLIDAY PAY IS ONLY AVAILABLE after 1 year and it isn’t the full amount you’d get paid on a normal work day. The women in the office gossip about the girls getting complaints and sometimes you get complaints based solely on the customer being over the top or wanting the same team. There is NO professionalism here, you will get spoken to like a dog for making simple mistakes or not being aware of something as simple as a door code ! This isn’t a team environment, you don’t get talked to about your mistakes or when you’re losing a customer they just start belittling you to other teams instead of helping on what could improve your work. Women that have been working here for years who have medical problems are NOT covered if they need time off, having a sick child , needing personal time for your mental /physical health doesn’t EXIST. You could be going through something that requires you to be off and they will give you a hard time ! This place is not up to date, nobody wants to work in these conditions, it 2022 not 1970. I worked at the Molly Maid in Ann Arbor for about 4 months and I'm surprised I lasted that long. SAVE YOURSELF AND APPLY SOMEWHERE ELSE. Where do I even begin?
1) If for some reason you decide to work here PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE CONTRACT they ask you to sign AND TAKE PHOTOS OF IT for your own records.
2) In the contract you sign, it only mentions that you will start out getting paid 18% of all the houses you clean...and mentions nothing about all other time spent (things like cleaning out their cars, getting oil changes, driving, etc.)
3) Management books your houses back to back and leaves no designated time for lunch. The few times in my 4 MONTHS working there that i took a lunch, I was asked why I hadn't made it to my next house.
4) Also, it seemed like I wasn't allowed to know what my hourly rate was when we weren't cleaning. They always gave extremely vague answers.
5) Its nice that we got paid weekly but my largest check (after working 45hrs) was barely $500.
6) If something happens and you dont get back to the office before they close at 5 pm the office staff wont wait for you... they lock the doors and if anything happens you'll be fending for yourself :).
7) Lastly, at the time I worked there, only 2 people worked in the office. At least one of them would almost always talk down to the employees like we were 10 years old and turn their own mistakes onto the cleaners. For example, them not giving us the right gas card or access code and then being rude and aski

I will start off by talking about the positive things to work for this company one of the positive things is that you're able to work full time you will usually do three to four houses a day each house takes about one and a half hours to 3 hours to clean however if you have a initial clean which is a first-time client usually this client is moving into the home and they want a deep clean that takes about all day to do so you'll be there for about 6 to 7 hours which is cool. You're able to stop at local food places for lunch and you're pretty much on the road going to each house so if you like a long ride in a car and this is a great job. Now I'm going to tell you about the negative number one you are underpaid you will not be making 350 to $400 a week you will more than likely make 250 to 320 a week also the equipment is worn down as well as the company car lastly management will be difficult to deal with after a few weeks of doing deep cleans and getting underpaid it becomes increasingly frustrating also there are no benefits at this location there is no advancement in this location and once again at this location you'll be underpaid if you're looking for something to help you get by until you find a better opportunity then this is a perfect job if you have low expectations and just need a couple of dollars in your pocket then it's perfect but if you're trying to build off this opportunity you will get frustrated so please look elsewhere do not waste your time
I was really excited to start my job at Molly Maid of Hamilton County. My first few days I noticed some organizational issues, but I assumed it was due to staffing issues. Later I realized this company lacks in communication, organization, timeliness, and consideration in regards to staff and clientele. There is a set “schedule” for every day, but ultimately it’s not accurate because it’s set up by management. Management is inconsiderate of employees’ lives outside of work. No one can ask off or get off of work for appointments, etc. On top of this, when anyone quits or doesn’t show up for work, instead of rescheduling some houses and working out the schedule— too many houses will be given to each team of two. No one is paid for drive time, commission only after training. You could work a 10 hour shift with no actual breaks other than being in the car to drive from house to house or you could have a 5 hour day. You never know which you will get or what time you will be off on any given day. Molly Maids of Hamilton County could really be a great place to work if it wasn’t for completely incompetent management. Everyone is nice for the most part, and mostly everyone does their job in regards to maid staffing. Clients are usually kind, some may be picky but that’s normal. The job is hard labor but can be enjoyable. Do not work here if you are looking for a low stress, organized, consistent environment. Just don’t, save yourself the time, energy, and stress.
The owner and the “general manager” are very mentally abusive they will twist and manipulate whatever that have to to get more money. They have no respect for their employees what so ever. The manager walks around referring to everyone as “her little maids”. You will never make over 400 point blank period they like to lie a lot to. I worked there for over a year and maybe had a handful of checks that where 400 or more. Also the owner likes to cut percentages if he isn’t fond of you he will drop you to 18 or 19 percent and tell you you don’t work hard enough for the full 20. You will be charged 50 dollars for a back ground check that may never be done considering he hires people and the next day they are in homes .. you never know who you are riding with a lot of the people that work there are not friendly what so ever they like to prentend to be nice but as soon as you walk out of the room they huddle up and talk as much trash about you as they can. They will tell other teams blatant lies about you just to stir drama I guess because the Manager is a 70 year old women with absolutely no life. Job costed me a lot of friendships and ultimately made me loose myself don’t work here don’t apply don’t give them the time you will regret it. This company has no morals Run away while you can.

Manager choose to speak spanish only to her staff. If you spoke english this manager would ask us to hand the phone over to a spanish speaking employee. Hours vary greatly at this location you can get full time hours to nothing at all. The manager will call you if she has hours for you to work that week. Cleaning teams take a lot of short cuts while cleaning. Move it. Move it girls so we can get to the next house. You should install cameras. In your homes that's the only way decent work will be done in your homes. Watching eyes will keep these girls on their toes. Tips are only given if the customers themselves puts the money personally in your hands. Otherwise your tips go into the owners pockets. Teams will stiff other maids that they don't like and refuse to get along by complaining bitterly about the other maids work ethics. The manager did not try to encourage the maids to get along better as a team. Check withholding at the end employment. They never bothered to send the last two checks in the mail even to this day. Work here if you know someone here already. Otherwise you will not survive here very long. Just some good advice. Favoritism runs rampant here. Trust me.

The job in itself is very stressful and physically draining, but ontop of that alot of the people I worked with made it mentally draining too. I constantly had to hear people blaming their problems on the rest of the world, yelling at cars driving by, saying how they hate this and hate that, people saying racist, homophobic and general prejudice things against people they would see walking by. One lady I worked with made fun of someone with a disability infront of me then straight after made a racist comment about an asian man, and when I asked not to be put with her again my boss only separated us for about a week. I gave her another chance and 5 minutes into the day her and another lady were talking about how disgusting gay bars are. On top of that the supervisor hated me for no reason and made it very clear, saying mean things to me every time I would come in to work and leave work. The general atmosphere I got from the whole place was very depressing and alot of gossiping went on in the cars. I can say that this is the only job that I've literally hated. When I asked to resign the manager got mad and so sent me a text at 1:30am saying not to come back to finish the rest of the week.

This job was an absolute nightmare to work at. If you're going to look for either a job or a service to clean your home, DO NOT look at Molly Maid for an opportunity. The rush to get in and out of the home in order to get the percentage rather than the hourly pay was just horrible and threw the quality of work right out the window. Just goes to show these people don't care about the cleanliness of the home so much as they do about just getting the job done to get a better rate of pay, which is a horrible way to treat the customer. No wonder why they got so many complaints. The coworkers were just awful too - I got yelled at by a coworker while servicing a client's home (horrible reflection of professionalism), and when I took it to management with my concerns, I was essentially told that I was in the wrong. The entire work culture was passive aggressive - as an example, they wouldn't tell you to your face how to improve and basically would wait till things escalated in order to tell you where and how you were doing things poorly, assuming you were lucky enough to hear about how to improve at all. The communication is gossip-based and indirect, so you won't know how to improve unless it's in the form of passive-aggressive jokes that even (and especially) the MANAGEMENT makes.
I'm at least glad to say that while I did work there, I did improve the cleanliness of some people's homes and they are now maintaining it well. (You're welcome, Molly Maid.)
