OD is a good company with growth potential
Old Dominion’s Corporate Office in Thomasville, NC had made a company wide implementation for Downsizing. I fell victim to their personnel decision this month for the Central Region or would still be employed.
ProsPay, Benefits and location
ConsInconsistency of Management, Training and exposure to Propane & Diesel fumes daily.

Great Job Just have to have the mentality for the job
Overall, my experience with ODFL was great! I learned many things and was open to learning everything. Although I well experienced in all fields I was not given the opportunity for advancement but I just thought it was not my time.
ProsGreat Employer
ConsI cannot say anything bad about this employer

It's a well paying job.
I can start by saying, you are there to work. Just like any other job... if you stay away from the drama and not make too many mistakes, then you will be fine. Worked at OD for just over 6 years now. It's had it's up and downs. Overall though this has been a fine company to work for.
ProsGood pay and benefits
ConsPart time does not qualify for benefits

containers at od savannah is awful
terrible management-very condescending and arrogant while the work load is very unsteady. management has been known to nickel and dime customers which in turn lose the customers causing lack of work.

benefits
no time and a half after 40hrs,good management, open door policy, more political than it needs to be working for a freight company .... freight is about loading and unloading ..

You can easily make a career out of working at Old Dominion. It’s one of those jobs where you could go and stay there until retirement. They make a point of putting back into their employees and making their equipment as new as could be. Every year is an annual raise and bonus, which over the last 10 years hasn’t been less than a $1 raise.

What is there time schedules for full-time and part-time and do they work with you on your time
Asked Jan 24, 2017
30 hours part time, 45 hours full time. If you have a family be prepared not to spend time like you want to with them during the week , it’s 24 hours in a day 12 goes to the job, 8 hours goes to your sleep, and 4 hours goes to your family and things you need to do smh. But some full time only work (4) 12 hour shift’s out of 7 days and others (5) 10 hour shifts out of 7 days. this is only for yard Hoslers in dock workers.
