Overall Reviews at RBS

Vice President of Compliance | Stamford, CT | Dec 22, 2019
Great place to work
RBS was a great place to work until they decided to downsize. The culture was good and people respected each other. After the downsizing in 2016, you just watched as your friends left one by one.
Senior Technical Lead | Stamford, CT | Jan 17, 2020
A nice place to work
There was a gym in the building. I enjoyed the gym classes. The shower room was very clean and tidy. In that year I left RBS, around 8 teams participated the RBS cricket game. Our team got the champion. I never forgot that summer.
Vice President of Engineering | Taylorsville, UT | Jan 29, 2019
The team I worked with was a satellite office, reporting to a management team in the UK and in Connecticut. The work conditions were terrible, with crowded tables of computers, people and telephones piled on top of each other. Ultimately, the management looked more concerned to show "short term" improvement, rather than considering what was best for the company and its employees and shareholders.

Customer service jobs not pleasant
Mostly explained to customers how interest rates were calculated and listened to various complaints, so not exactly a positive environment. Also, sitting 8 hours a day, not great.
Systems Administrator | Chicago, IL | Aug 16, 2018
I enjoyed my time working at RBS and I'm very greatful for the opportunity that I was given. I had the chance to lead a group of 4 Desktop Support personnel and provided training as needed.
Operations Associate | Chicago, IL | Oct 19, 2019
Large but close knit family environment
I set up accounts for our clients to trade through. I ran daily trading and profit/loss reports on a daily basis and provided them to our clients. I provided training for our clients and other back office personnel in our office. I was a new comer in the business but I learned a lot about trading and the financial world. Management worked very closely with our departments and kept us informed about the company's plans for us. The most enjoyable part of the job was working with all the people in our office. The office was very diversified with people from many countries and cultural backgrounds.

Depends where you are
In NWTDS there are too many people who are technical experts doing people management roles without the necessary skills to manage well. Salary is good
ProsA good financial package with flexible options.
ConsNot all managers should be managers

RBS- contract position
Worked there for under a year, but was able to learn a lot. The manager encouraged us to learn and to question things. They have a friendly work environment, and it was an overall good experience.
Proslots of OT
ConsThey were not hiring for permanent positions at the time
Customer Service Analyst | Edinburgh, IN | Sep 16, 2018
Management bullying and discrimination, do not care about the staff, no progression. I have had to follow very important guidelines and keep to a very tight schedule and work under pressure.
Consno flexible working
Senior Business Consultant | New York, NY | Jun 3, 2019
Friendly employees
I found RBS a great place to work at. I was a consultant on a brief project so it would be slightly different for employees. As a Consultant there was a lot of flexibility.

I'd stop trying to be nice about layoffs and focus on getting rid of the poor performers and keep the good performers. And I'd cut costs faster. But I'm not sure this company can be saved.
