Overall Reviews at Sobeys

Typical corporate retailer, easy-going position.
Typical day - Go to work, check in with boss, get tools, get to work, take bathroom breaks as you need them, boss'll tell you when your breaks are. Usually everyone breaks together.
Workplace culture-fine, except for one rotten apple that ruined it for me personally. Everyone else was great though, supportive and relaxed, and the job was easy once you got the hang of it.
Recommendation: If you see a rotten-apple-person, DOCUMENT the situations and instances that are decreasing your work experience. COMPLAIN to HR, and submit your documentation. I know nobody wants to get after their coworkers about stuff, so go above your store management's heads if you have to. You deserve not to be bullied and and broken down. COMPLAIN IN WRITING TO PEOPLE WHO CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT

Go to work and do what is asked of you.
Was a good workplace made good friends and learned a lot.
There was always food in lunchroom to eat and coffee and affordable pop to purchase.
Although you have to stand and do your job it was good.
The owner is a friendly person and was always there when you had a problem or needed to talk to someone about work.
The Supervisor is also a great person the owners daughter always busy but make time if you have a situation on hand.
Consnot big enough salary

growing relationships with the customers
Before Sobeys I worked at Food Fare as an Assistant Manager for many years and had the privilege of dealing with a lot of the same customers. Also, I enjoyed working with a lot of my fellow employees and remain friends with many of them to this day.

Good Job when going to school
They have great Health benefits. They gave me a raise every 500 hrs and also has bonus programs to complete and get other raises. I was able to move up to different positions. Good for going to school as they have a lot of evening shifts.

Its a alright place to work at. Most of the staff is fun and caring and just all around amazing but others are the opposite. The only bad thing is that employees have to pay full price for everything.
ProsSome people are caring
ConsEverything is full priced to workers.

Not a bad place to work, wasn't my thing all to much. Had to clean mostly and had the evening shift usualy alone so it got boring quick. Management was hard to understand because he was foreign.

Fluctuating demands, changing management, inconsistent personnel policies lead to difficulties for senior staff. Overall a company in flux, better for students.

Independent work and have to maintain a clean work environment and take initiative to get ahead of the process and keep stuff clean and organized while preparing hot food.
