Productive and active environment
A typical in Waitrose was very active and packed. Everyday was a busy day due to location and the amount of people that either work or are located around that area. As there are so many tasks, I always had to be on my feet and keeping an eye on how much time I am spending per task. I learnt to be disciplined during work, by being full of energy instead of doing the minimal. I learnt about several different foods and products sold by the company, The management in Waitrose was very structured and organized, as well as strict intolerant.. Very nice individuals who do not tolerate any room for laziness, as this leads to a lack of productivity. The hardest part of the job was offloading the evening deliveries as there is usually so much inventory, which could take up to an hour putting away. The most enjoyable part of the job was going on deliveries in the van to deliver home shopping to customers. It was very exciting as well as important as we had to represent the company in a good light when out on deliveries.

Good place to work
Loved my time at Waitrose. A very varied work day from tills to filling shelves to cafe pot wash.
There is always lots to learn and the benefits are very good.

Relaxed work place
Lovely place to work with friendly staff and approachable management that actually work on shop floor not just sat at a office desk.
We are one big family one team and help each other out.
Great place to work with great bonus and nice discounts.( great cheap event days to like legoland )
We also have some lovely holiday destinations to go to for staff only.
ProsThe event days ( legoland for example at £13 a ticket)
ConsOnly 45min paid lunch on a 8hr plus shift

what i learned
i was recovering from my ptsd from tour of afghanistan as i entered a help program fro veterans and waitrose where so understanding as a whole team it was satisfying to know i was supported finacially and proffesionally so i could do both work and support from the veterans agencies. i asked to move to days not nights as i was working nights at the time, needed a switch to help as my health was getting bad so days where ergent. even though they had no hours they mad room for me as a exception to help i was so happy.
Prosgood company/ wage and people
Consi had to leave there

Fun at times
It can be fun at times, a bit challenging and demanding but the pay is good as well as the benefits too. Not really understanding when it comes to time off.
ProsGood discounts in a number of restaurants and stores.
ConsDemanding and not always understanding managers

Waitrose beaconsfield is a trash pit
The culture there was terrible and while the companies core values allegedly include employee satisfaction its not reflected in store operations at all. I was surrounded by a team of wonderful to mediocre team members that were more than adequate but management that were all braindead morons enforcing company policies as it suited them and generally making staff miserable. Several employees told me about issues with managers which I passed upward which were consistently pushed under the rug. All the managers are just there to get a pay check, do the bare minimum and flex what tiny authority they have.
