Worst Job I've Ever Had in My Life
Here's your official guide to this wonderful company: Enjoy! Do yourself a favor and work anywhere but Wawa. I performed every type of entry level position within 2 different stores and have covered shifts in nearly 10 stores within a year's time period. I've never seen people worked so hard for such little pay. Its amazing in the fact that they have certain lifelong employees brainwashed into enjoying they're slave shift every day. They're always understaffed because people call out every single day. God forbid you actually have an illness and need to call out because they will tell you that it's your responsibility to find cover for your shift. What? I'm calling OUT.. Either that or they'll tell you that you need to come in for atleast a little while until they find someone to cover your shift. That's spectacular. You can forget about making plans outside of the place because your schedule isn't generated until 2-3 days beforehand for the week ahead and it's NEVER consistent in any way, shape, or form. Look forward to the fall and winter months because they'll cut your hours atleast in half. The excuse they'll give you is that they don't make any money in the fall or winter months. Yeah ok. Name one person who doesn't go to wawa and spend money every single day. The company is so cheap it's unbelievable. Breaks? HA! We were always told "However long it takes you to eat." Great motivation. Makes me wanna come back to work every day for sure! Forget about an

Great service, decent pay, bad management and flexibility
Working at Wawa has been a very interesting experience to say the least. To say the most I'd say it started off well. My managers seemed nice and productive, my coworkers seemed nice as well. A typical day at work starts with me coming in and asking what area of the store I'll start working at at that particular time because I float around and am adaptable to the environment. Once there I help as many customers and coworkers as possible and to the best of my ability. Sometimes I can stay securely at one station for all parts of the day depending on scheduling or what we need at the time. Working at Wawa I've learned a few things. I've learned how to better hone my skills socially. I have also learned to harness my adaptability and to strengthen my patience. On the front of social skills, I have to talk to customers, effectively, learning how best to cater while also keeping composure and tact even in stressful situations as well as calm ones. As far as being adaptable, I am able to merge well with whatever task I'm given and can quickly learn how to do new tasks effectively. I have learned patience from helping my coworkers who don't necessarily work the exact same but learning and being engaged in working together resourcefully. Patience is also learned through helping customers who may not be as mannerly or calm as I'd like but still keeping the peace as best as I can and serving to my best capabilities. As far as management goes, most of the managers that

Overall great company to work for, but everyday really depends on your store, your managers, & coworkers.
Overall, the culture of Wawa is very positive and forward thinking, but still the corporate mindset is rampant and often your management can become vindictive of you speaking out of line or to higher management. Everyday as a food service associate is very stressful at high volume stores, and under staffing is common. Also, management is known to be ghosts during the times you need it most, often to be found taking a smoke break or chatting it up in the back when you're stuck alone in the middle of a bum rush. Managers are more focused on quotas, audits and corporate demands than trying to make working more efficient for guest and associate. Managers will not include many associates in decision making, if any at all and speak among themselves. The corporate mindset hinders creativity, you will spend time making large orders for the family making innocent conversation with you will walk out without paying and you will be told to "not worry" because "it's not your money" and "we don't want a hostile environment for guests" excusing and worried about offending thieves for the sake of customer service since the recent opening of the Florida market in the last few years. Duties for food service include stocking an area, preparing orders taken by the customer on the touch screen, cleaning and sanitizing, performing B.E.S.T list tasks, which I refer to as cleaning busy work, and answering questions from guests, which really can make you question if common sense still exists
ProsHealth benefits, weekly pay, flexible scheduling, company culture, simplicity, computer based training, compensation.

Mixed Feelings About Working At Wawa
I worked at Wawa for almost three years before I was let go. During this time, working at Wawa was like a roller coaster ride. It was very up and down; some days were good, and some were bad. I did enjoy my job most of the time, but I had my moments where it felt like I was doing way more work than I was getting paid for. I sometimes felt like a slave at this place. I did enjoy the fast pace working environment, though. There was always something to do. I had some really good days working here, and that is because of my coworkers. Out of everything, my coworkers are what I miss the most from Wawa. We almost always found a way to make our job fun. And even though I loved most of my coworkers, I sometimes had a hard time respecting our managers. Some of my managers in the past were just so power hungry and had no respect for the associates at all. We were extremely under-appreciated at times, I felt like. All the work we had to do, all the rude customers we had to put up with. And half the time the hard work wasn't even recognized. I always felt like favoritism was a huge problem at my store. Certain managers treated some associates better than others if they liked them on a personal or friendly level, not because they were good at their jobs. And that's not how it should be. I think our attitudes and the way we act is definitely important, but I believe that hard work should be what's recognized the most. And unfortunately, I did not feel like we were getting that at my store.
ProsFree soda/coffee and discounts during shift (great food, btw), great people to work with, always something to do to keep you busy, can get benefits through the company, great company to become apart of-endless opportunities for employees
ConsPower hungry management, favoritism, customers that were so rude they could ruin your entire day, don't get paid enough for the amount of work you have to do, job starts you off at a low pay

Wawa employee owned
Wawa has some amazing benefits. 99% company pay dental and vision employee-owned company where stock is given to you for years of service. I hated to leave my job at Wawa. However I think it was the problem of my experience working at my location and my management. The job is very strenuous and hard Wawa expects a lot of their employees on the other hand if the store is run the "Wawa Way" I can see it being worth it. In my experience I had worked a 13-hour shift and then was being called in 4 hours after I had gotten off. Wawa provides some awesome opportunities in training for their managers it only depends that the manager puts the Wawa training in place even to the point where they can put personal relationships to the side. I did not feel like there was a lot of accountability or appreciation for those being actually accountable. So Wawa gives their managers stacks of Goosebumps cards which have random amounts of points on them and there is a whole online store where you can spend the points and I think this is absolutely amazing and so good of Wawa to do. However if your manager does not hand out these cards when they see you going above and beyond which I think that should include covering shifts coming in early changing your schedule staying late I think all those situations can be classified as going above and beyond what you're doing in your job description but my managers didn't see it that way I covered over 15 shifts stayed late multiple times came in early and e

It was a good place to work during college but I cannot see myself there permanently
I enjoyed working here. The people were great and we had a great management team. However, I want to try and distance myself from retail as that is not the career path that I want to pursue. I would recommend Wawa to others and have on many occasions. I just do not want to stay here long term. A typical day is fairly hectic. When I walk in at 6am, I count the loan safe so that I can take it over for the day. Then I need to jump right on register as that is the start of the morning rush. This lasts until about 9am. Then we are able to break off and get done whatever tasks need to be taken care of. Usually I take them on or delegate them to my cashiers. Around 10am, we start employee breaks so I need to get back to register so I can send my cashiers to go eat. Around 11:30, breaks are done and I usually make sure all of the tills are loaded. At 12, lunch rush starts and everyone has to be in their assigned location. This usually continues until around 1:15. At this time we try and get anything else done that needs to be done on our shift. Then at 2, I break down all the tills. This usually takes me until 3 when it is time to go home. I have really learned a lot about how business works. I also particularly gained a lot of management experience. Retail can be a very formidable foe sometimes but it really does teach you the ins and outs of operations and management. The hardest part of the job is dealing with employees with a very low work ethic. We get a lot of new hir

Worth it if you're young, but not a cakewalk
Benefits are excellent and the company is strong and genuinely cares about their associates and customers. The main problem I found was with individual managers who should never have been promoted to the level they were. If you work for this company, expect to work HARD and to be held to high standards of customer service. If you can hang in there, despite poor managers cycling through your store, the retirement benefits are worthwhile, especially for young people who have the energy and stamina for the job. I'd recommend it for young people to work really hard, sometimes feeling as though it is thankless job. I don't think it is a long-time career due to burnout, but it is a way to generate a decent chunk of money that will allow you to pursue goals post Wawa. I worked 3rd shift for the years I was there and there was even more turn-over on that shift than in general as people either couldn't handle the overnight hours or because they chose that shift thinking it would be slow and easy. It's not. One store I worked at was VERY busy all night long because it was near a college campus and the second one, while less busy with customers, was still very challenging. 3rd shift works with fewer people and is responsible for all the in depth cleaning tasks, stocking the shelves, uppacking the orders ever other night, etc. Often they come in to a disaster from the shift before and everything must be set up perfectly for the early morning shift. It is high pressure with no

Managers Make The Difference
I've worked for Wawa for about three years and in my time there I worked my way up the ladder from a regular CSA (customer service associate) to Night Supervisor. Here in Florida the pay starts much higher then many other similar customer service/food service jobs, and opportunities for raises/advancement come every 6-12 months. The benefit options you become eligible for after your first full year are pretty good and affordable too. Work culture in each store location varies, but generally above average. With stores being open 24-7-365, don't expect to have a very consistent schedule or many weekends off if you're looking to work more than 20 hours a week. You begin earning stock in the company after your first year, but unless you're planning on staying with Wawa until retirement, it's not really worth thinking about. The job difficulty and quality of your work environment are entirely in the hands of your store's management team. If your management team works well together, pulls their weight, and holds everyone to the same expectations, then your time at that store will be great. Otherwise, the wheels come off quickly and everyone suffers (especially the lower ranks). This has been my experience and my reason for leaving the company. Incompetent scheduling for already understaffed shifts, blatent disrespect from co-workers left unchecked by upper management, constant call-outs, biased expectations of employees/shifts, lack of proper training, and overall poor communica

Overall was not a terrible job
In the start of my six years at Wawa, it went well. That quickly changed, however. As I expect in many jobs, Wawa managers did what they wanted and asserted their dominance. They altered with your schedule if you did something they did not like or something wrong. They often scheduled you wrong shifts without contacting you first. However, Wawa is normally really good with scheduling. If you need certain days off they normally will not ask but will try to convince you to do otherwise if it is not an important reason in their eyes. They will also find any small reason to get rid of you if need be. With that said, I was let go because I forgot to stock a condiment rack. But I guess that is business. Aside from the management, a normal day at Wawa would consist of making orders for customers and/or using the register. There is also gas attendants, however, I never did that. While not making orders or ringing people up at the register, you were to clean. stock, face products, and do anything else the manager on duty needed. There was always help of the other co workers when needed. While some are weaker than others at the job, there was always someone there. Wawa is just too busy of a place to be working alone. The hardest part of the job was handling the stress. Since it was my first job, I was not used to handling so much stress because it was such a busy place. On the other hand, the most enjoyable part of the job were the co workers. Window Dressing company.
Wawa is an okay company to work for. It offers an amazing benefit package, a not so bad health insurance plan and many support groups and programs for its associates. It is a 24/7, 365 day running company. It never closes FOR NOTHING. Expect to work during hazardous weather. Even if the power goes out and it's pitch black, expect to be told to work indoors or outdoors, no matter the time. The workload is ridiculous. Wawa is a convenience store that treat itself like a fast food chain. It's constantly adding ridiculous and unnecessary food items to an already stressed out menu and not enough space to accomodate everything. 1 to many extra steps are always being taken. On top of that, they are constantly adding rules and new or updated regulations that are tedious to follow. If you are part of store that has poor communicative behaviors, expect an endless road of problems. Expect basically turf wars with every shift. It's a great short-term job, not so much long-term. The road to the top will probably give you an unhealthy addiction. Management from all levels are leaving left and right and the company is forced to hire externals who know nothing about this company or how it's ran. People who are less qualified are promoted just to fill a gap somewhere else. Pay raises and merit increases are all but unfair. When they first raised their starting wage, I was making the exact amount as a new hire. They didn't increase its existing associates salary or managements. Same w
