Overall Reviews at Xerox
Learning and Development Manager | Norwalk, CT | Jan 22, 2020
Paradoxical and challenging
I have learned immensely due to continual reductions in force with the expectation of having to assume open workloads and full expectation and responsibility of workloads. Best thing about the job is seeing my contributions in operation and the global scope and reach of a fully functional IT environment. Hardest part is the acute management silence and ongoing turnover, HR RIF/IRIF actions, funding.

Benefits could be better
Benefits and pay were not that great. I actually enjoyed my job, however the company is not willing to pay. Worked there for a total of 10 years with only 2 raises, as the company always stated they were on a pay freeze.

Great place to work - before all the layoffs
During my time at Xerox, I greatly enjoyed the professionalism of the atmosphere, collaborate with co-workers, and everything I learned in my position. The Ink R&D Dept was fantastic. The management was some of the best I've ever experienced, the team was very supportive, and the work we did was quite exciting.
Sadly, Xerox restructured and laid off entire departments and sold others. So the Ink R&D department is now part of another company (3D Systems). Many of the same team work there... so this review would probably apply more to the people in that company now. Since I've never worked for 3D Systems, I couldn't say for sure.

The company who INVENTED the “mouse”, the “Icon” and “video conferencing” concepts NO LONGER EXIST.
The old family oriented Xerox Corporation with great environment to work, where friendly people worked with passion for a better company, great achievements and success is GONE.
Board of directors, share holders and top executives are looking out for themselves ONLY, there is no positive feedback for employees.

Was fun while it lasted
If there was more communication and structure in the organization the goals would be achieved. We are also lacking in a comprehensive benefits program and lack of 401k or other incentives. Bonuses are never awarded even though they are spelled out in the offer letter.
ConsLeadership vision, benefits

Xerox, like other copier manufacturers, is struggling with the transition of accounts to the channel partners. I think the dust to settle now, and things are smoothing out.
ConsA lot of cumbersome processes

Xerox is a good company with excellent trining. I worked for a subsidiary of Xerox, GIS. Global Imaging Systems. I was a director of training and development, working with managers and sales people in alignment with Xerox sales learning curriculum.

You're better off at McDonalds
No job security. they are constantly laying people off. The customer is dead last while shareholder value is their only concern.
They've laid off or re-badged most of the knowledgable workforce and are replacing everyone with Central American workers for a fraction of the price. The customers and remaining employees are frustrated at the lack of experience and expertise in the new workers and are looking elsewhere.
Xerox is nothing but a holding company at this point, marketing others products and selling them as their own.

Technical, Mechanical - 30 Years there. Looks like print industry is finally slowing to a point where it is less viable. Would have liked to finish my career there but all is going to outsourcing.
