Very poorly managed
The management team has no clue as to run a business. They do not want employees that can be creative or innovative. They have core standard and they will not deviate for the standards. There steering system are dangerous and cause allot of friction and noise. Management is not open to change or design improvements.

Bascially working at my desk all day
Not much interaction with others in the company or legal department. Just come to work and get your work done. Some flexibility with working from home one day a week, which is nice.

I enjoy my work.
I take pride in my work and enjoy the job I do. My crew and other members on my shift have built a family type atmosphere. We build safety devices for the automotive industry and it makes me enjoy the work more.

It was a good place to work for, in a clean envirement
I enjoyed working there most of the time, but in recent years, even though I ran a robotics line by myself, and continually broke new records, while maintaining the best quality standards, they continually wanted more, and wanted each person to do the work of 2 or 3 people. In spite of this, I continued to have a positive attitude until I left after 21 years of service.
Prosgood pay, clean working conditions, and good benefits.
ConsManagement kept making the job harder

Revolving door
Would not work there again even if I had nothing else. Managment, environment, and work/home life is all imbalanced. I do not recommend working here to anyone.

UAW environment
Not a friendly environment to work in. Management is based on the "Good Ole Boy" network. There is no room for an "outsider" to move up at all. While there, was overlooked for numerous positions for which I was well qualified
ProsClose to home
ConsLots of negativity; Plant manager uses profanity constantly

Not impressive
Worked there for 4 yrs and if you didn't kiss but you got nowhere. Management is a joke. Many have left because of management. They don't care about you.

Stressfull
My manager was not truthful about opportunities and seemed not to have my back when things or machines went south. The employees felt like nobody cared for their lives or families. Most didn't want to go above or beyond because they didn't feel appreciated.
ProsVacations
ConsNo trust

Stressful work culture
Lots of salary member turnover; only men were part of the senior staff reporting to the plant manager, it was a total "boy's club". Continued employment based on personal relationship with plant manager, not performance so there was lots of mediocrity in the processes.
ProsPay, beneifts

Productive workplace
Working at ZF was enjoyable and productive. I was lucky to have an amazing manager. She allowed a flexible work schedule when needed with the ability to work from home on a approved basis. Good growth potential as I started as a temp pushing paper and was promoted twice over the two and a half years I was employed.

Questions And Answers about ZF

What is the work environment and culture like at ZF?
Asked Jul 7, 2016
Sexist. Extremely sexist place to work.
Answered Apr 28, 2019
Racists. it is a place where you get to experience the current American way of life and where the country is heading towards. Not a good company to work for in my opinion.
Answered Nov 7, 2018
If you were to leave ZF, what would be the reason?
Asked Mar 16, 2017
I had a health issue and management treated me like it was my fault. I had many doctor's slips for accommadations and they all disappeared out of my file.
Answered Sep 5, 2019
Health benefits suck. You pay 50-60 dollars per week out of your check. Then you have to pay the first $3000.00 of deductible. After that is met, insurance kicks in at 80/20. They have a fsa to help but you need to put additional money into that for it to help out. It costs me to work here. Looking for another job now.

What benefits does ZF offer?
Asked Jun 16, 2016
Craptastic benefits....if you can manage to get thru the 550 page small print you will discover you are paying twice as much as the insurance actually covers
Answered Mar 21, 2020
Health savings account unless you can afford other. Delta Dental shared premium and shared vision. No benefit is 100% company paid.
Answered Jan 29, 2019
Why do they test for nicotine , and can you be employed there if you smoke ?
Asked Aug 28, 2016
You can smoke but your insurance cost more. Its already ridiculous as it is. $1800 or note out of your pocket before you meet your deductible
Answered Oct 12, 2018
Marshall Illinois plant has a serious drug problem. Managers sleep around.
Answered Oct 12, 2018
How would you describe the pace of work at ZF?
Asked Apr 24, 2017
ZF throws money at fires, but has zero common sense to think of PM's. They would rather wait for a catastrophe, than to plan ahead.
Answered Apr 28, 2019
Fast pace but not cutting throat. People enforce rules at the wrong application.
