What educational background do you need to land a job in Chattanooga?

Generally speaking, accounting jobs are very hard to get without at least a bachelor's degree. You will need to take the CPA exam in order to qualify, but once you get the title, you can attain work as a certified accountant. Higher education, such as a master's degree, will allow you to command higher pay and give you access to a nearly endless array of accountant roles, including, but not limited to, forensic accountant, auditor, corporate controller and chief financial officer.

Note that continuing education is required by Tennessee in order to maintain your CPA certificate. Currently, that number is 80 hours of continuing education every two years.

First, you'll need a good resume and cover letter. Accountant jobs are very math-based, so you'll especially want to highlight your math abilities and your experience with any accounting-related programs.
