Seeking a talented, passionate, and highly motivated Group Controller for Private Equity backed service platform. This position will play a critical role in partnering with General Partners and Operating Partner in strategic and financial decision making.
Responsibilities
The Group Controller will work with Business Unit Leaders and Business Unit accounting teams to
- Be a financial partner to the General Partners and Operating Partner.
- Effectively communicate and present critical financial matters to the senior leadership team
- Lead our financial reporting, management accounting, cash/NWC management, and performance management for the group
- Be a proactive driver of excellence within accounting and the overall business, at the group level and in the Business Units
- Oversee the annual accounting review and tax preparation
- Development and adherence of corporate accounting policies ensuring compliance with GAAP for all financial reporting. Stay abreast of accounting regulation changes and communicate/manage implications accordingly.
- Lead all banking, finance and accounting relationships
- Analyze major purchases and options for leasing, renting, financing or buying with cash
Lead Business Unit accounting
- Oversee the financial reporting, management accounting, cash/NWC management and performance management for the Business Units (working with the accounting teams in each)
- Oversee monthly accounting close and consolidation process for multiple locations while providing accounting guidance to finance team members.
- Create, analyze, and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
- Effectively lead all accounting functions including policy development and implementation, and financial system development and management, including ensuring appropriate controls are in place and common chart of accounts is implemented
- Administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of the organization’s financial status.
- Define and manage performance management structure and KPIs
- Build relationships with Business Unit leaders, accounting teams and other managers
- Onboard new acquisitions to the group operating rhythm, financial reporting/accounting, KPIs, etc
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the Group and the Business Units
- Conduct analyses as needed to understand Business Unit performance and improvement opportunities
- Lead specific projects such as technology implementation of accounting software or business management software. Ensure strong technical implementation as well as successful change management to ensure business units maximize the value of the tools.
- Lead implementation of group performance management dashboard, likely in PowerBI or another business intelligence tool

- Have an in-depth understanding of GAAP and the related reporting required
- Have proven skills in leading, mentoring, challenging, and developing an accounting team within multi-business organizations and emphasizing people development throughout an organization.
- Strong analysis skills, both for financial and management accounting, as well as other performance metrics
- Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to deal with ambiguity
- Software implementation
- Proficiency with QuickBooks (3+ years)
- Experience with business services, for example construction, landscaping, janitorial, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, pest control, security, facilities management, etc
Qualifications
- Have strong educational credentials, minimum bachelor’s in accounting or finance related field, with an understanding and history of driving performance excellence, and a demonstrated commitment to life-long learning and development.
- CPA certification strongly preferred with 8 plus years of experience.
- Have 3 or more years of financial leadership experience.
- Ability to travel, as needed (anticipate ~10%)

Pay: $125,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
