Full Job Description
Local law firm seeks family law paralegal.
Job Responsibilities:
- Support three to four family law attorneys to effectively handle cases, including but not limited to divorce, child custody, support, PFA and name change cases
- Handle day-to-day management of family law cases
- Draft pleadings and documents necessary, including but not limited to letters, complaints, stipulations and proposed orders, summary of support calculations, research memos, emergency petitions, special relief petitions, motions, hearing notices, subpoenas, premarital and post-nuptial settlement agreements and production requests
- Review client documentation, such as marital estates, and prepares business income and marital estate summaries, inventories, settlement statements and pretrial statements
- Responsible for obtaining proper service
- Handle case and attorney preparation for court appearances and exhibit creation
- Handle calculation, docketing and meeting court deadlines
- Review attorney mail and manages calendar
- Client support for vacationing attorneys
- Scheduling, including but not limited to, hearings, conferences, depositions and settlement conferences
- Handle significant interaction with clients, opposing counsels and experts via correspondence, telephone, e-mail and in-person meetings
Qualifications:
- Three to five years family law experience
- Paralegal certificate or Associates Degree required
- Working knowledge of family law, state and county rules and procedures for Northampton, Lehigh, Montgomery, Berks & Monroe Counties
- Display a high degree of initiative and critical thinking skills in managing multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, detail-oriented work environment
- Ability to manage multiple matters and project simultaneously and independently
- Flexibility to work with frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workflow
- Ability to work comfortably and confidently with clients
- Must possess discretion and excellent interpersonal and communication skills
