The County of Chester, Coroner's Department is accepting applications for a Corner's Investigator. The Full-time Coroner's Investigator is assigned shifts after completion of training and may rotate but is expected to be primarily a combination of weeknights, 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. and weekends 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The candidate must have the flexibility to cover any shift if required by departmental needs.
Must live in Chester County.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Include but not limited to: determining case jurisdiction; responding to death scenes; conducting investigations including interviews, securing medical records, taking photographs, arranging transport of the deceased, interacting with families/medical personnel/law enforcement, writing reports as per department SOPs, and other duties/tasks as may be assigned by the Coroner/Chief Deputy Coroner.
High School or GED Degree.
Two years experience in medical, pre-hospital or law enforcement setting.
Must pass the PA State Coroner's Education Course and obtain national certification (ABMDI)within 18 months of hiring.
Work environment may include exposure to hazardous conditions including but not limited to waterways, roadways, harsh weather, unsafe structures, odors, body fluids and infectious diseases.
Associate Degree in Criminal Justice or medical field.
Experience or education in medicolegal death investigation.
Applicant must possess a valid driver's license and obtain criminal background check and child abuse clearances.

Salary Information Salary range available beginning at $40,372.80 annually based on education and experience.
