At NanoPin Technologies, our mission is to advance infectious disease diagnosis and improve patient care using a novel diagnostic platform that produces rapid and quantified results from patient blood samples.This versatile platform addresses critical needs for current infectious disease epidemics such as tuberculosis (the leading cause of death from infectious disease worldwide) and HIV and can be adapted to diagnose pathogens that causefuture contagions. Critically, unlike currently available assays, our technology provides quantified results that indicate not only if a patient has a specific disease, but how severe it is and how it changes over time and in response to treatment.
The Mass Spectrometry Scientist will analyze and support the development of company assays for infectious disease diagnosis, and have working familiarity with a variety of analytical equipment, with an absolute requirement for expertise performing Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry(LC-MS) analyses of biomaterials including protein analysis. This position will involve assay development, sample preparation, test method optimization for accuracy and throughput, and creation and use of company quality control (QC) and standard operating procedure (SOP) documentation.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform analytical validation of LC-MS-based in vitrodiagnostic (IVD) assays.
Perform validation of LC-MS-based IVD assays using clinical samples.
Comply with and generate SOPs for assay methods and associated procedures.
Prepare QC-related documentation for compliance with GMP manufacturing processes.
Perform routine maintenance for LC-MS systems and related equipment.
Prepare documentation and communicate results to the team, company partners, and at selected conferences or seminars.
Education or Experience (in years):
· Ph.D. or equivalent combination of B.S. Degree and experience to perform at this level.
· 5+ years of experience in a biochemistry or biology laboratory.
Knowledge and skills:
Expertise with mass spectrometry and LC-MS operation, method development, and maintenance.
Experience with standard laboratory procedures of a molecular biology laboratory.
Experience performing analytical validation studies of biomaterials.
Motivated to work independently or with minimal supervision.
Possesses strong English verbal and written communication skills.
Strong critical thinker and highly attentive to detail.
Responds in a timely and professional manner to all job-related communications.
