Job Description
The design team for AmazonFresh and Prime Now is seeking a UX Design Technologist to provide creative and technical expertise within our design group. In this role you will use a variety of tools and technologies to prototype new ways to meet and exceed customers’ needs from order to receipt of item and beyond. You will prove UX concepts at a variety of fidelities, including working samples and reference code, throughout the design process. You are well versed in an appropriate mix of development and prototyping platforms and tools, and will select the best and most appropriate platform for the task. When possible, you are able to deliver code on the platform upon which the experience will ship, and you know when doing so is not necessary or practical. You understand the strengths and weaknesses of the delivery platform, and are able to identify opportunities and work creatively within the constraints it imposes.

You will work collaboratively with UX designers, web developers, software engineers, domain experts, users, and executives - iterating on concepts that start and end with the customer. You will lead the design, implement, and refine prototypes for a multitude of unique and different user interfaces, inspiring action around the results.

Create the vision for, and communicate, innovative solutions to a wide variety of user experience challenges including: mobile, desktop, and wearable devices.
Participate in annual planning and end-to-end design process.
Evaluate and document any new creative and/or engineering standards or patterns that could arise from your work.
Actively participate in concept development and design ideation as part of a small team.
Rapidly build and iterate on polished, high fidelity prototypes that express design intent, using the best and most appropriate tools and techniques for the task.
Develop functional prototypes to prove and sell concepts to development teams and senior leadership.
Partner with engineering to ensure that interactive techniques and technologies translate through to shipping products and services.
Be able to work creatively through and around perceived limitations and/or challenges imposed by the delivery platform to create delightful experiences for customers.
Basic Qualifications
BS in Computer Science or related technical field (In lieu of degree, 4 years of relevant work experience).
Proficiency in HTML/CSS/JavaScript, with a strong grasp on Object-Oriented thinking.
Strong interaction and rapid prototype engineering skills across a broad spectrum of technologies including: HTML/CSS/JavaScript, libraries like React and React Native, W3C DOM methods and properties.
Knowledge of modern front-end development tools such as Frameworks (e.g. React, Bootstrap, Lodash), standards and compilers (e.g. ES6, Babel, Webpack), Browser Debugging (e.g. Web Inspector, Firebug, WebDev Toolbar), Templating (e.g. Handlebars, Underscore templates), and Preprocessors (e.g. SASS, LESS, CoffeeScript).
A passion for creating beautiful, engaging, intuitive, efficient, highly usable user interfaces.
Portfolio of work that demonstrates detailed attention to typography, color, imagery, motion, and graphic elements.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in fetching data from services and screen scraping using a RESTful API (e.g. Twitter, AWS, OAuth).
Experience with Object Oriented JavaScript and modern JavaScript libraries.
Experience with vector and motion graphics, including SVG, HTML5 Canvas, and Animation via JavaScript and CSS.
Fluency in one or more of: Python, Ruby, or Java.
Experience with unconventional hardware and software platforms.
HCI and research experience, including mobile HCI, tangible interfaces, and physical computing.
Desire to work in a start-up style environment, where iteration is encouraged.
