Asset Protection Unit (APU) seeks an experienced software developer to join our team. APU is growing rapidly and we look for engaged, enthusiastic, and excited folks to become an integral part of our team.

What problems will you solve?

Under the direction of the Director of Development you will be working, largely autonomously, to deliver software critical to the daily operations of the business. You will introduce automations at key points in the business workflow to increase operations efficiency. There will be a wide variety of opportunities, from data mining, all the way up to front-end presentation. You will also help frame our development and change management practices to create a world class development environment.

What are we looking for?

We are searching for someone who can take a new dataset, understand all of its components, derive business meeting. All the while, keeping in mind business objectives.

We are looking for experience in SAS, or with experience using another stack (Python, R, etc.) to analyze large datasets.

As a small development shop we are someone who has broad experience including some project management duties. Duties such as gathering requirements, clarifying user expectations, communicating with management and stake-holders, and recognizing opportunities for improvement.

Programmer / Analyst I

  • Follow Directions (written and verbal) to prepare client data for programming
  • Follow Directions (written and verbal) to run existing SAS programs
  • Do basic troubleshooting to find issues with client data
  • Do basic troubleshooting of existing SAS Programs
  • Under direction, make basic modifications to existing SAS Programs.
  • Write SAS Infile programs.
  • Make modifications to existing Audit templates

Programmer / Analyst II

  • Demonstrate a firm grasp on the elements that make up existing programs
  • Identify areas where existing programs have deficiencies
  • Independently make test and verify functional changes to existing programs
  • Take an idea for a new program and, under direction, find the needed data, test and verify output
  • Take loosely defined requirements and create programs from them.

Programmer / Analyst III

  • Demonstrate expertise in existing programming environment (SAS or other tools)
  • Independently Identify new programs and programming opportunities
  • Independently generate an idea for a new program, find or request the needed data, test and verify output, train audit and call staff on new idea
  • Be able to interview users to find requirements for programming, document and execute on those requirements

Senior Programmer / Analyst

  • Recognize architectural improvements needed to improve APU Programming
  • Perform any programming or data related task independently and efficiently
  • Think strategically about existing or conceptual opportunities
  • Mentor other programming staff
  • Provide direction to other programming staff
  • Communicate clearly with C-Level executives

Required Education and Experience

We expect this candidate to be able to self-learn and gather the right information to make informed decisions. APU will train the right candidate in the specific duties of the position, but the person must be able to take the initiative without being told what to do. A skills test will be required.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position requires 40 hours per week with some time outside of the normal hours.

No travel is expected for this position.
