Summary of Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Manager is responsible for the hiring, development, and supervision of the Clinical Affairs team within Sarah Cannon Development Innovations. This role includes the development and maintenance of procedures and departmental processes within Clinical Affairs to ensure ongoing compliance with federal, local and company regulations as well as Good Clinical Practices to ensure adequate delivery of Industry Sponsored and Investigator Initiated clinical trials. The Sr. Manager, Project Administration will have line management responsibilities within the department.
The Clinical Affairs team’s responsibilities involve all study management activities which may include: Investigator site recruitment/feasibility, critical documentation collection and review, clinical status tracking to ensure metrics are met, and maintaining files in ‘audit-ready’ condition. It is imperative that all Clinical Affairs team members adhere to standard operating procedures, ICHGCP, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
Manage and oversee the Clinical Affairs team (includes Clinical Project Associates (CPA), Senior Clinical Project Associates (Sr. CPA), and Clinical Team Lead I roles/activities, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and Sarah Cannon SOPs
Manage the performance of direct reports, including role expectations, performance reviews, and corrective actions where necessary.
Ensure adequate support, provide feedback and manage performance issues, and identify and develop training opportunities for department and individuals
Supervise, educate, direct and support the Clinical Affairs team
Develop and write appropriate SOPs and work instructions
Develop tools for tracking study specific and departmental health metrics that may be shared with clients as well as Senior Management within Sarah Cannon
Manage departmental resources to ensure all project teams are adequately supported. This includes forecasting, hiring and training
Manage departmental resources to ensure department meets minimum utilization expectations
Develop and define career development pathways for the Clinical Affairs team to ensure stabilization and minimization of staff turnover
Maintain strong relationships with managers of other functional groups within Sarah Cannon Development Innovations and other Sarah Cannon departments
Oversee resourcing/performance for Sarah Cannon-wide company initiatives to ensure the appropriate progression of the Clinical Affairs team
Partner with other Sarah Cannon Development Innovations groups (Data Sciences, Safety, Regulatory Operations, Analytics) to optimize processes and achieve highest possible efficiencies in support of Industry Sponsored and Investigator Sponsored studies
Member of the Clinical Leadership Team responsible for overall performance of the department
Together with Clinical Leadership team develop and implement standards for the department
Assist in developing and executing Sarah Cannon internal and external strategies
Participate in educational activities and programs
Maintain strictest confidentiality
Perform related work as required
At least 6 years’ experience in a clinical research environment.
Experience in a senior or leadership role with demonstrated leadership skills.
Experience as a Sr. CRA, Project Lead, or Project Manager is preferred.
1 to 3 years of Line management experience
Appropriate education may be substituted for partial experience.
