The Prince William Health District (PWHD) seeks to fill a Public Health Nurse (PHN) Supervisor position that offers the opportunity to hone your professional skills as well as have a greater impact on the health of the community. The ideal candidate for this position is an experienced registered nurse committed to public health practice and the assurance of a competent public health workforce.
If you are interested, this position is charged with leading a dedicated team committed to providing quality population based care and assuring the 10 essential public health services in our community. Duties include training, scheduling, and performance management for registered nurses and ancillary staff. May also perform direct nursing service by independently providing professional nursing care to clients in clinics, homes, and/or other venues. This position also acts as a community resource for public health issues.

Valid Virginia RN license, or eligible, is required. Proficiency with various computer applications is required. Must have a valid driver’s license for district travel.
BSN with public health component and Masters degree in public health, nursing, or equivalent training/experience; experience supervising health professionals in a public health setting; understanding of disease reporting requirements; experience as an Infection Control Practitioner.
Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results of a state and federal criminal history background check and the Department of Social Service’s Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry check, U.S. HHS IG Exclusion List check, employment reference check, and E-Verify. Valid driver’s license and successfully passing a background investigation. Must adhere to the VDH Driver Safety Policy. Must provide own transportation and will be required to travel to other district site locations.
