Knowledge Services is actively seeking an Application Support Specialist for a contract to hire opportunity with our client, The State of IN’s Department of Child Services. This position is located downtown Indianapolis, IN.
Help Desk system support of a Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System (CCWIS).
System support Communication with internal and external stakeholders
Software testing and troubleshooting
Understanding of full software development life cycle and associated documentation including business needs analysis, system analysis, functional design, technical design, development, testing, and production system support.
Experience with software support and internal and external customer support, including telephone and e-mail support. Experienced in providing production system support and solving daily production issues for CCWIS environment. Ability to plan work tasks and activities. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Effective communication with technical and non-technical personnel.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Possess strong listening skills. Ability to communicate and interact with public stakeholders, Child Welfare staff and system development staff to address software issues and problems, including research, analysis, and solution development. Ability to write in a clear and concise manner and able to convey information appropriately for a variety of audiences. Ability to develop, maintain, track, and organize software system documents.
Strong experience with software testing and troubleshooting, including creating test scripts and performing black box and functional testing, DR testing, system testing, and regression testing. Experience reading and interpreting software requirements and design documentation to create test scripts.
Experience with software release support, including performing form and template releases, performing software releases using Microsoft Visual Studio, and expertise with Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) source control. Experience with PL/SQL and execution of SQL scripts.
Experience using the Zendesk application, or similar call tracking and defect tracking software.
Experience with Microsoft Office suite, specifically Word, Excel, Access, Visio, Project, and SharePoint.
Experience with software security functions, including creating and maintaining user profiles and classifications, creating and maintaining user IDs and passwords, and assigning proper security to system functions.
