Full Job Description
Our Unmanned Systems group is looking to add a talented Research Scientist with a background in autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, scientific computation, and/or mathematical modeling. The successful candidate will be passionate about designing, developing and applying cutting-edge technologies for prototype autonomous systems.
In this position, you will see your ideas control autonomous vehicles in the most challenging environments. The successful candidate will be part of a team that designs and implements software and hardware solutions addressing critical challenges to develop some of the most autonomous systems on or off the planet. You will integrate into, and lead, dynamic and highly-motivated project teams, and use new ideas from across multiple fields to push the boundaries of the possible for intelligent systems.
Ph.D. in computer science, mathematics, physics, or applicable engineering field, or equivalent training and experience; would consider a BS degree with 5+ years relevant industry experience OR an MS degree with 3+ years relevant industry experience in;
autonomy and autonomous decision making
programming experience in C++ and/or Java
Experience in R&D environments and with rapid software prototyping
Ability to improvise and think “outside the box” to develop technical solutions
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
A track record of publications and/or successful proposal writing is strongly desired
Experience with Federal S&T and R&D sponsors (DARPA, IARPA, ONR, NASA) and contract vehicles (BAAs, SBIRs) is a plus
US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED, active DoD clearance a plus
