Summary
We are seeking a dependable, experienced, and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our team. This job includes all support services in an intellectual-property focused legal practice. Applicants should be able to give references.
Responsibilities
Maintaining calendars of court dates, deadlines, etc., communicating with clients, and being pro-active in moving cases ahead and keeping up with necessary actions, including discovery and preparation.
Drafting and filing complaints, answers, and other pleadings; preparing discovery requests and responding to same; preparing cases for summary judgment, maintaining client files, dealing with clients, entering time and running monthly statements, preparing fee petitions, taking the initiative in moving cases ahead, including propounding discovery requests and fee petitions. Inputting time and expenses in time-keeping/billing program.
Skills
- Knowledge of legal administrative procedures generally;
- Knowledge of Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and local rules for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois;
- Knowledge of the requirements of discovery in federal cases, and experience with reviewing discovery documents and in preparing same for service on opposing counsel;
- Familiarity with Westlaw legal research tools;
- Familiarity with TMEP and TBMP is a preferable;
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in partnership with attorneys;
- Experience with time-keeping/billing programs, e.g., Clio; and
- Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to relay information effectively to clients.

Pay: $62,208.00 - $68,143.00 per year
