The Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital is a psychiatric facility located in Worcester Massachusetts. The WRCH is seeking to fill the position of Director of Food Services.

This position will define, develop, implement and evaluate programs to meet the long and short-term service needs of the consumer population served by the facility and formulate and maintain programs to meet those needs.

Other duties include:
1) The Food Service Director shall be responsible for food service related activities and personnel management.

2) Shall be responsible for supervising, coordinating, and directing the work duties of all food service personnel, including providing evaluative input to the Assistant Chief Operations Officer for Operations.

3) Will complete all required reports as required

4) In conjunction with dietary staff, will develop and be responsible for all menus and menu planning.

5) Be responsible for the cleanliness and for the proper storage of all equipment and the proper handling, serving, and storage of all foods.

6) Responsible for the cleanliness for the kitchen.

7) Is overall responsible for the purchase of all food commodities.

8) Is responsible for the evaluation of all food service personnel.

9) Will obtain bids from vendors for the procurement of food, equipment and services needed for the department and make recommendations regarding which bids/proposals are in the overall best interest of the facility.

10)In conjunction with the COO and Assist. COO and Area Fiscal staff, prepare budgets and monitoring spending.

11)Must have strong human relations and business management skills.

12)Must have knowledge of large scale or large quantity meal preparation and menu planning.

13)Must have the training, experience, and ability to direct the total food service operation for a 320 bed hospital.

14)Develop and Draft Protocols. Will develop and implement protocols by evaluating existing procedures, to continuously improve department operations.

15)In conjunction with the accreditation monitoring process, ensure that their department is in full compliance with all applicable standards, regulations, statutes and requirements (i.e., Joint Commission, CMS, and Board of Registry in Medicine, DEM, DPS, DMH Regulations, and Commonwealth Statutes).

16)Develop cooperative relationships, as applicable, with boards, advocacy groups, labor unions, providers involved with hospital operations and external authorizing entities.

17)Manage the workforce by providing supervision and direction to staff regarding performance, by ensuring staff competencies, education and professional development and by ensuring cross-training and succession planning activities to ensure the workforce is in compliance with all standards and postured for future operational demands.

18)Reviews special work assignments of individuals, or project crews.

19)Responsible for placing or overseeing weekly food orders to vendors.

20)Determine food inventory needs and material asset inventory needs for the department.

21)Manages and oversees staff competencies.

22)Will ensure and manage adequate staffing for the department. Will work closely with Human Resources to ensure all staffing requirements are met for the department.

23)Will oversee and manage performance evaluations of staff.

24)Establish daily work schedules for special and routine assignments.

25)Monitors quality of Dietary Services, inspects work while in progress and upon completion.

26)Inspects equipment to determine need for parts, repairs, or replacement.

27)Recommends equipment for new purchases.

28)Will recommend policies and procedures and work methods.

29)Responsible for kitchen budget. Will assist area office in monitoring spending of dietary and kitchen department budget.

30)Responsible and accountable for all Food Service Department Inventory.

31)Maintains up to date records on work activity and prepares reports as required.

32)Prepares all administrative reports for senior executive management.

33)Responsible for training new employees.

34)Arranges and manages all in In-Service Training for kitchen and other staff as needed.

35)Will ensure that all areas are properly staffed in the event of absences and arranges for temporary replacements.

36)Responsible for preparing and maintaining weekly time logs for kitchen staff and turning same into payroll.

37)Will manage and assist in daily supervision of all kitchen staff.

38)Manage and oversee the interviewing and selection of all kitchen staff.

39)Must have skill in all aspects of Dietary Service management.

40)Manages all positive corrective action and discipline for below standard performing employees.

41)Manages the overtime for kitchen staff and for secondary overtime pool.

42)Other duties as assigned.

Located on over 100 acres in Worcester, Massachusetts, Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) is part of an integrated network of effective, efficient and culturally competent mental health services. It provides intermediate and long-term inpatient care for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness who live in Massachusetts, as well as individuals requiring specialized court ordered evaluations.

WRCH provides inpatient services to 260 inpatient adults, inclusive of a Deaf Inpatient Mental Health Service; 30 inpatient adolescents and 30 residential adolescents, in either an Intensive Residential Treatment Program (IRTP) or a Behavioral Intensive Residential Treatment Program (BIRT).

Applicants must have at least (A) five years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional, administrative, supervisory or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, financial management, or professional experience in a particular specialty (i.e. scientific, professional, or technical), and (B) of which three years must have been in a supervisory or managerial capacity, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.

Preferred Qualifications: Registered Dietician

I. A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major in business administration, business management, public administration, financial management, or degree related directly to the specialty may be substituted for one year of the required (A) experience.
II. A Graduate or higher degree with a major in business administration, business management, public administration, financial management, or degree related directly to the specialty may be substituted for two years of the required (A) experience.
