The US Coast Guard Technical Information Management Branch is a part of the Surface Forces Logistics Center’s Engineering Services Division located in Baltimore Maryland and is comprised of two sections: Drawings & Graphics Support Section, (DGSS); and Publication Production & Distribution Section, (PPDS). TIMB was established to support the missions of the SFLC and C4IT Service Center communities through the acquisition, development, maintenance and distribution of current and accurate technical information and data.

We are looking for Senior Technical Writer/Editor IPB to assist in their mission.

Work directly with TIMB staff to provide support with the continuing development and sustainment of the training program for CG-LIMS-STIP.
Expert level understanding of Oracle’s User Productivity Kit (UPK) application to develop all training and associated documentation.
Develop, sustain and publish Illustrated Parts Breakdowns (IPBs).
Support efforts to identify, capture, and catalog part data and exploded view diagrams required to build the Surface and C4IT Community’s IPBs using S1000D architecture.
Provide expertise in modifying HTML, XML and MS Access databases associated with or supporting the IPB structure and content
Work closely with the contracted developers, data analysts, and Product Line representatives to incorporate necessary changes and modifications to the IPB
Support Team Lead in providing training to Technical Information Management Branch staff on S1000D, XML, IPB Management and any other pertinent topics

Minimum education requirement of an Associate’s degree or at least five (5) years of job-related experience or equivalent.
Demonstrate good written communication skills and organizational abilities.
Working knowledge of word processing and integrated software applications.
Gain an understanding of ASD - S1000D, the International Specification for Technical Publications utilizing a Common Source Database (CSDB).
Have experience developing and revising HTML content using Notepad, Microsoft Expressions Web or equivalent as supported by the USCG as it pertains to Illustrated Parts Breakdowns (IPB).
Must gain a working level understating of CG-LIMS STIP.
Ability to successfully pass a federal background check and drug screens is required
