Scoutreach programs with the Boy Scouts of America reaches out to the local community and gives boys and girls between 1st and 5th grade the opportunity to enjoy all that the Boy Scouts have to offer… for free! We work with after-school programs, at Boys and Girls Clubs, and even apartment complexes to bring Scouting to everyone, regardless of their circumstances, neighborhood, or ethnic background.

Job Description

Perform duties as a leader of Scouting units. Conduct weekly meetings at a designated meeting site. The main objective is to have fun and guide young boys and girls in character building activities by developing Scouting skills, harnessing creativity, and creating fellowship.

Qualifications

Ability to work with young people, communicate effectively with parents and school officials; meet deadlines, maintain records and be punctual to all meetings. Both male and female candidates are welcome! Must be 18 years or older and 21 and older is preferred. Must pass a criminal background check. Fingerprinting and completion of the online Youth Protection training are required after hire. You must have reliable transportation.Our programs run mainly after 3pm so you must be available after 3pm on school days. Qualifications will be reviewed on a case by case basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Scout meetings on a weekly basis at a designated site.
  • Keep records of Scout’s attendance and advancement.
  • Complete the Youth Protection Training course.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings (online).
  • Participate in council and district service projects and events.
  • Participate in council fundraising projects.
  • Maintain communication with program sites and the council.

Physical Activities:

Activities include, but are not limited to hiking, lifting, walking, talking and hearing.

Position involves medium work requirement with an emphasis on reading, detailed work, problem-solving, verbal and written communication, language skills, and some math.

Working Conditions:

This position is subject to indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.

Salary:

Starting $10.00 per hour, flexible schedule
