JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for efficiently managing people, processes and capital equipment for timely and cost effective production of quality products. In addition, this position is responsible for developing and maintaining a safe work environment in compliance with all state and federal laws, maintaining plant-manufacturing programs within budget, directing, and driving all company continuous improvement efforts by supporting APP’s Cultural Beliefs.

Coordinates with support departments and supervises activities of workers/leads/supervisors engaged in fabricating, modifying, or repairing parts, tooling and related items used in manufacturing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Directs the safe manufacturing of production orders.
  • Instills confidence, empowers and fuels employee motivation by developing and communicating a clear vision for the company’s future.
  • Establishes, communicates and achieves the Key Results.
  • Develops short and medium term growth plan.
  • Develops succession plan to ensure knowledge transfer and ensure continuity.
  • Maintains an ethical, respectful relationship with employees, suppliers and customers.
  • Practices and promotes great customer service for internal and external customers.
  • Ensures that high quality products are produced through Plant Quality Systems Program.
  • Manages, monitors, reduces process variations to reduce cost, improve product conformance and reliability, and uses this as a tool for continuous improvement.
  • Promotes Company philosophies and policies to establish support and organization within the plant.
  • Is very cost focused and promotes lean principles
  • Initiates Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Actions.
  • Establishes strong procedures and standards to ensure predictable and consistent production of parts that meet and exceed APP’s Quality Standards.
  • Prepares and submits operating reports to management to inform them of current production status and to make recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Evaluates staffing requirements and uses performance appraisal as a tool for employee training and development.
  • Provides leadership for the successful day-to-day operation of the facility.
  • Fosters and operate in a continuous improvement environment.
  • Removes production constraints; allocates human and equipment resources and direct production employees to attain all established goals.
  • Removes waste and constraints from the production process to improve efficiencies and enhance productivity.
  • Conducts plant tours when needed.
  • Embraces and supports growing business demands in a changing environment
  • Awareness and compliance of Company Policies and Procedures
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • This position has supervisory responsibilities.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical /Industrial/Manufacturing/Engineering or of a related technical field. Management degree is preferred.
  • Experience in forging industry and familiarity with Aluminum/Titanium is preferred.
  • 5-7 years’ experience in managerial role.
  • Extensive knowledge of Production Management principles and methodologies.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Intermediate Computer skills standard PC applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook) as well as using ERP and related computer programs.
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills
  • Advance Mathematical skills.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem solving skills
  • Highly motivated and driven by success.
  • Ability to work hands-on in an industrial manufacturing environment, as well as in a corporate environment
  • Ability to participate and motivate others in a collaborative environment
  • High level of personal integrity and honesty.
  • Team player able to operate with independence as required.
  • Results / task oriented work ethic
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience
  • Advance degree.
  • Certification as Lean and/or Six Sigma Black Belt preferred
  • 10+ years aluminum forging manufacturing experience highly desired.
  • Understanding of metallurgy.
