Graphic Design and 3D Imaging Summer Instructor
Camp Location: Stanford University
Camp Dates: July 14-July 20, 2019
The Graphic Design week of Computer Camp will explore the theory and principles behind graphic design as well as provide hands-on experience with computer-aided design.
The campers will be introduced to a history of graphic design as well as current day trends in design. Focusing on graphic designs impetus to web applications, such as wire-framing, visualizing UI-UX possibilities, still imagery editing and an in-depth understanding of the tools of Photoshop. We will also explore the functions of 3D imaging and printing. Through a critique based evaluation of projects, students will learn how to be perceptive to the principles of design, which will become a basis for further development when they graduate from the program. This Camp assumes no prior knowledge of computer-aided graphic design, or 3D modeling/printing experience.
Instructors will lead daily workshops and seminars in a computer lab, and assist students in one-on-one sessions. Average class size is approximately 12 students. Instructors should have professional experience in web design or programming and experience teaching these concepts to young people. Instructors must have the following experience and skills:
Subject matter expertise
2+ years teaching experience preferred
Bachelor's degree required; preference is given to those with an advanced degree.
A passion for computer education.
A calm and professional demeanor.
Excellent classroom management skills.
Self-motivation and follow-through.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to make break down concepts clear to young learners.
In addition to teaching responsibilities, instructors are expected to assist the camp director with active supervision and recreation assistance. Instructors will also be responsible for tracking student work and handing in any deliverables to the camp director and EU home office.
This is a residential position — room, board, and parking on campus is provided for the duration of the program. We will also consider instructors who wish to commute daily.
Instructors may be hired for one session or for multiple sessions of this program. Please indicate your availability on your application.
