The Boeing Company is seeking a Mid-Career Mechanical & Structural Analysis Engineer on the Landing Gear Systems Team located in Saint Louis, Missouri. This dynamic team performs design, strength, and manufacturing engineering support for the F/A-18A-F, EA-18G, T-45, AV-8B platforms as well as support for Phantom Works/Proprietary Programs.
Accurate and complete Build-To/Buy-To/Support-To Packages.
Component/System definition, analysis, qualification, and operation.
Proactively working and coordinating with Production Operations.
Landing Gear geometry and design carrier suitability operational assessments.
Landing Gear systems/subsystems redesign and test certification.
Landing Gear service life extension assessments.
Static strength analysis including techniques for plastic capability and residual stress calculations.
Fatigue analysis with spectrum development/analysis and crack initiation with strain based calculations.
Damage tolerance analysis with crack growth and critical flaw size analysis.
Finite element analysis including stick and panel models, beam models, and full 3-dimensional solid assemblies with contact analysis (Nastran, Patran, Mechanica).
Discrepant material analysis experience including development of repair limits and repair configurations.

Develops, integrates and documents structural requirements to establish the system design.
Coordinates with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment.
Guides product design and verifies structural integrity by using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product life cycle to develop the structural environment, characteristics and performance.
Develops test plans and configurations, supports test execution and analyzes/reports test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
Defines and documents certification and test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied.
Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements.
Works under general direction.

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Minimum of 3 years experience performing stress analysis using classical stress analysis techniques; finite element modeling (PATRAN, Stresscheck, Mechanica), and Durability and Damage Tolerance (D&DT) Tools.
Experience working as an engineer on aircraft landing gear subsystems definition, installation design, and analysis.
Experience using NASTRAN & PATRAN.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Familiarity with Unigraphics and Teamcenter is a plus.
Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
