UI/UX Designer and Developer

We are seeking an experienced Designer and developer to join our team full-time. The User Interface Designer & Developer is responsible for creating the user interfaces and workflow for our online energy marketplace software and mobile application and other side products for web, mobile, and tablet.

About Power Kiosk

Founded in 2013, Power Kiosk is a rapidly growing internet SaaS Platform based out of Chicago’s River North neighborhood. The platform connects commercial and residential Energy (gas/electricity) Brokers with over 80 direct suppliers. Think of us as the "REMAX," "Century21" or "Coldwell Banker" of energy brokerage.

Current Leadership Team

Hamed Babai, the founder of Power Kiosk, received his Ph.D. from Northwestern University in 2011 with a degree in Engineering. After working in the energy brokerage business, Hamed went off to build Power Kiosk from the ground up.

Steve Joung, Managing Principal, was the former co-founder and CEO of Chicago-based Pangea Properties (~$1B in assets). Prior to Pangea, Steve was Chief Operating Officer at Enova Financial (NYSE: ENVA) through its sale to Cash America International (NYSE: CSH) in 2008.

What will you do

  • Conceptualize and design the user interface for the client's online products that include applications for web, mobile, and tablet platforms
  • Define and create the workflow for the user experience and style guide for the software products including page layout, navigation, and data entry flow to ensure the product is intuitive and easy to use
  • Develop mockups, wireframes, and prototypes and deliver final design assets in a format that’s easy for Software Developers to build
  • Conduct and translate user-centric design research and usability testing into web ane mobile compatible code.
  • Multi-task more than one project at a time.
  • Work well with software developers and UX specialists.
  • Work with Product Managers and Business Analysts to translate business requirements into an easy-to-understand, simple language in a consistent voice for the end-user

You Have:

  • A Degree or an equivalent certificate in Graphic Design, or Computer Science (preferred)
  • 4+ years of experience in Web design
  • 2+ years of experience in User Interface design and translating the design into compatible code
  • Expertise in the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong design skills using industry tools like Sketch, InVision, Axure, etc.
  • proficiency with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript,
  • Familiarity with ASP.NET, jQuery is a bonus (no technical skills needed)
  • Exposure to design/development for mobile, tablet, and web applications
