Provide administrative support for the Walker Library User Services Department, with an emphasis on scheduling library instruction classes. Answer department phone and respond to general questions or route appropriately; receive visitors to the User Services Department Office; provide customer service to patrons as needed; compose and prepare User Services Department correspondence, statistics, and other reports; serve as primary liaison to Walker Library Technology Services regarding two instruction classrooms’ technology needs; assist with coordination of User Services activities; prepare regular schedules for the Reference Desk; provide directional and research assistance to users up to 10 hours weekly at the Reference Desk during normal business hours; supervise 5-7 student assistants who work 5-20 hours per week at the Reference Desk; perform other related tasks and special projects as assigned. Position Work Schedule: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. or 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (negotiable).
Required Educational Qualifications and Field of Study
High school diploma or high school equivalency required.
Required Year(s) and Type of Work Experience
Three years progressively responsible full time secretarial, clerical or other office experience required.
Preferred Year(s) and Type of Work Experience
Associates degree or two years of college preferred. Work in an academic environment or library setting preferred.
