Overview / Responsibilities
This role supports the delivery of precise, commercial, timely and cost effective legal advice within the relevant areas of responsibility on a broad spectrum of matters across locations, business units and service bundles.

The role will receive assignments from and be mentored and guided by the assistant general counsel, business unit chief counsel, managing counsel and senior legal counsel. The role holder has the required level of expertise and skill to be able to work independently on a day to day basis, although support is readily available. Complex legal matters will be subject to review. This role may specialise in one area or provide support to multiple areas.

Supports the effective delivery of legal counsel, governance and compliance across locations and business units/service bundles covering a broad range of activities – e.g. M&A, litigation/disputes, IP/innovation, real estate etc (receives assignments from assistant general counsel, business unit chief counsel/senior legal counsel)
Provides research, factual information, counsel, and guidance on legal questions or issues
Leads less complex legal issues, or acts as lead on legal matters for allocated projects
Assists in analysis of issues to identify legal problems
Prepares initial drafts of legal documents
Reviews documents for legal content and accuracy
Negotiates and drafts documentation for various company transactions
Assists in the preparation of cases for litigation, reviewing complex documents relating to transactions in which Wood is to participate
Conducts activities in accordance with all applicable laws and Wood’s standards and policies
Proactively shares knowledge and experience with other members of the legal team
Consistently exhibits Wood’s behaviours and leads by personal example, encouraging all employees to conduct their activities in accordance with all applicable laws and Wood’s standards and policies
Provides support to other BUs or Group as required

Skills / Qualifications
Qualifications: Education and qualification as a lawyer, solicitor, barrister or equivalent qualification and a valid/current law license

Job specific experience: 1-6 years of post-qualified (license) experience in an in house or private practice environment
Good presentation skills, with an ability to present in a concise and clear manner
Time management, use of IT systems and tools.
