Human Resources Generalist
University Business Services (UBS) seeks an experienced Department HR professional to provide professional human resources services which include employee relations, performance management, training, compensation assistance, and problem solving. This position works with the Director People and Talent for UBS.

This is not a grant funded position and is not contingent on future grant funding.
$70,000 - $72,000 per year; DOE
Develops strong partnerships with UBS department heads and management in an effort to positively influence organizational performance and results.
Resolves problems by clarifying issues, researching questions and exploring answers and alternative solutions, and consulting with others, as needed, prior to recommending appropriate actions.
Consults with management regarding complex and/or highly sensitive employee relations concerns and in the use of performance management tools, corrective action plans; coordinates legal review of proposed actions as needed.
Advises and consults with managers and team members to provide guidance on employee relations issues and to facilitate the resolution of issues consistent with policies and practices.
Consults with departments in developing recruitment strategies, assists in the recruitment and hiring process and employment law/legal issues. Consults with departments on structuring employment offers.
Provides information and consultation to management on human resource actions including but not limited to: transfers, promotions, category changes, reassignments, and reduction-in-force/lay-off.
Serves as a resource and support between the departments and the Business and Finance Business Center.
Establishes job description review protocol and schedule to ensure that descriptions are current with unit needs and current job market. Revises and creates new descriptions as appropriate.
Manages and implements employee onboarding programs understanding unit needs and maintaining consistency at unit and VP level.
Provides recruitment tools and resources, and assistance to ensure consistency and delivery of a strong applicant pool.
In collaboration with management, recommends training and development programs and training tracks as part of the Career EDGE program aimed at developing employees and managers.
Determines effectiveness of current internal HR related programs, policies, and procedures and recommends revisions accordingly.
Partners with managers to work collaboratively to develop and retain a high performance workforce.
Provides guidance and interpretation to employees regarding workplace policies and practices
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions and communications with others.
Assists with management of employee engagement and retention programs.
Manages, gathers, and analyzes HR statistics for decision-making.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business Administration or related field AND four (4) years of professional human resources experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
Experience with employee relations, separation actions, and organizational change management
Experience with training, and developing and managing employee onboarding programs
Experience with recruitment and employee engagement
Experience in leading cross-functional teams
Experience collaborating, partnering and advising management/leadership
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse.
Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
Clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
