Job Summary
DTE Biomass Energy (DTEBE) develops, owns and operates landfill gas to energy recovery systems throughout the United States. As a leader in the industry, with more than 20 operating facilities stretching from New York to California, we have the proven capabilities to help provide communities with safe, environmentally sound energy. Headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan, DTE Biomass Energy (DTBE) is a wholly owned subsidiary of DTE Energy. DTEBE has an immediate opening at (the facility below).

Sea Breeze Energy Producers, LLC (SEP) processes landfill gas into renewable natural gas that is injected into an existing pipeline and sold as vehicle fuel. A solvent based system is utilized to strip contaminants through an absorption process whereby the carbon dioxide, oxygen and hydrogen sulfide are removed to raise the methane concentration from approximately 56% to greater than 96%.

Key Accountabilities
Operations

Operate facility as defined by various contractual obligations and detailed in the facilities operating manual
Monitor and record plant operating data and adjust the process to optimize production
Conducts day-to-day operation, maintenance and repair of the Plant
Maintain facility logbook, highlighting activities and noteworthy events
Generate weekly and monthly operational, safety and environmental reports
Diagnose and correct adverse plant conditions and malfunctions
Maintain spare parts inventory and records
Directs technical and logistical resources, provides oversight to specialists supporting operations including gas processing equipment, machine repair and maintenance, energy efficiency, procurement, project management, and others
Interfaces with partners, engineers, consultants and legal representatives as necessary
Financial Operations

Prepare operational and expense annual budgets and 5-year projections
Provide periodic forecasts of expected annual budget and take corrective actions to meet goals
Provide monthly review of unbilled liabilities and provide comments
Review and approve invoices for payment to vendors
Review and approve purchase order requisitions for accuracy and processing
Work with purchasing and legal to establish new vendors into our purchasing system
Safety & Environmental

Promotes safe operating practices; assists with safety investigations; leads monthly safety meetings
Promotes environmental stewardship and compliance with environmental regulations; assists with environmental investigations and responses as required
Implement the DTEBE safety policies and procedures and facility code of conduct
Participate in monthly safety audits and inspections as identified in site safety manuals
Leadership

Directs recruiting, selection and hiring activities as necessary
Promotes appropriate training and career/succession planning
Supports employee engagement at the plant coordinating with management to ensure employees understand clearly their roles and have the tools, training and resources necessary to perform to the best of their ability
Establishes goals for operational staff and monitors performance
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or 10 years of experience in an industrial or power generation facility with increasing levels of responsibility
Landfill gas to energy processing facility experience a plus
Other Qualifications
Ability to clearly and concisely communicate both written and verbally
Self-directed initiative and delegation of projects from start to completion
Management level experience with budgets, operating plans, income statements and pro forma models
Management of contracts and the ability to work through contractual issues
Ability to respond quickly and effectively to operational and logistical problems in order to provide timely resolution
Possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted state driver’s license
